One of the best parts of ACVIM? The people. 💙🐾✨

Day 1 at the 2026 ACVIM Forum has been filled with meaningful conversations, new connections, and opportunities to learn alongside veterinary professionals from across the country. 🤝

We're proud to have members of our leadership team and board-certified specialists representing Fetch this week as we connect with colleagues, share ideas, and explore the latest advancements in veterinary medicine. 🩺📚

Events like this remind us of the power of collaboration and the impact that continued learning can have on the pets, families, and veterinary teams we serve every day. 💙🐶🐱

🚨 A Small Antifreeze Spill Can Become a Life-Threatening Emergency for Cats 🚨🐱

Many cats are exposed to antifreeze simply by walking through a small spill in a garage or driveway and later grooming their paws. Unfortunately, even tiny amounts can cause severe kidney damage within hours.

Signs to watch for may include:
🐾 Vomiting or drooling
🐾 Weakness or lethargy
🐾 Trouble walking or loss of coordination
🐾 Increased thirst or changes in urination

At Fetch Specialty & Emergency Veterinary Centers in Brandon, our emergency and specialty teams are equipped to provide advanced diagnostics, hospitalization, and intensive monitoring for pets facing toxic exposures and other emergencies.

If you suspect antifreeze exposure, immediate veterinary care is critical.

🚨 Dog Ate Rat Poison? Don’t Wait. 🚨

Rat poison is a life-threatening emergency—and the scary part? Symptoms don’t always show up right away. Even if your dog seems okay, internal damage could already be happening.

⚠️ Watch for signs like:
• Vomiting or loss of appetite
• Lethargy or weakness
• Pale gums or unusual bleeding
• Difficulty breathing
• Seizures or collapse

Different types of rat poison can affect the body in very different ways—causing internal bleeding, organ damage, or neurological issues.

🏥 At Fetch Specialty & Emergency Veterinary Centers – Brandon, our Emergency team is here 24/7 to act fast when it matters most. Treatment may include:
• Safely inducing vomiting
• Activated charcoal to reduce toxin absorption
• Bloodwork and advanced diagnostics
• Vitamin K therapy or hospitalization

⏳ Time matters - waiting can significantly worsen outcomes.
