🐾💉 HAPPY VET TECH WEEK! 💉🐾

To the ones who dodge teeth, trim the nails nobody else wants to touch, wrestle 100-pound dogs, reason with angry cats, clean up bodily fluids that defy explanation, and somehow still manage to love their jobs (most days). 😂

The ones who can hit a vein on a moving target, smell parvo from the parking lot, spot trouble before anyone else, and hold it together when things get ugly.

You are nurses, phlebotomists, anesthetists, dental hygienists, lab techs, professional p**p inspectors, animal whisperers, and occasionally WWE wrestlers.

You run on caffeine, dark humor, questionable lunches, and a whole lot of heart. ❤️

You get peed on, p**ped on, scratched, bitten, slobbered on, and occasionally yelled at by people who have absolutely no idea how hard your job really is.

And yet, you keep showing up.

Because underneath the sarcasm, the bruises, the fur-covered scrubs, and the exhaustion is a person who genuinely gives a damn.

Veterinary medicine would absolutely fall apart without you.

We see you. We appreciate you. And we love you—even when you’re hiding in the treatment area eating crackers for lunch. 😂

David H. Watson

🐾 Meet Dr. David Watson! 🐾
Veterinarian & Owner

Dr. David Watson is a lifelong Mississippian who was born in Hattiesburg and raised in Pearl. After graduating from Pearl High School in 1994, he attended Mississippi State University, earning his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science cm laude in 1999. He went on to attend the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2003.

Following graduation, Dr. Watson moved to Cassville, Missouri, where he began his career at Barry County Veterinary Service, a busy mixed-animal practice. During his time there, he cared for a wide variety of patients while becoming deeply involved in the local community through church and the Rotary Club.

In 2006, life brought Dr. Watson back home to Mississippi after his father was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Returning to Brandon gave him the opportunity to be closer to his family during an incredibly important time and ultimately helped shape the next chapter of his veterinary career.

Since returning home, Dr. Watson has made it his mission to build Brandon Veterinary Clinic into a practice centered around quality medicine, dependable care, and lasting relationships with the people and pets of the Brandon community. The influence of his father—and the values that brought him home—continue to be an important part of the clinic he has built.

When he isn’t at the clinic, you may find Dr. Watson on a baseball field coaching youth teams in Brandon. Giving his time to young athletes is another way he enjoys staying involved in the community he calls home.

An avid craftsman and lifelong learner, Dr. Watson also enjoys woodworking and antique restoration, along with collecting historical literature. Whether he’s restoring something from the past, discovering a new piece of history, or exploring a new place, he rarely stops learning or working with his hands.

Dr. Watson lives in Brandon with his family and pets and also enjoys camping, traveling, and spending time outdoors with his family.

For Dr. Watson, veterinary medicine is about more than treating animals—it’s about serving his community, building relationships, and caring for the families who trust BVC with the pets they love. ❤️

🐾 Meet Anna Neal! 🐾
Veterinary Assistant

Anna is one of the newest members of the BVC team and is excited to begin growing her experience in veterinary medicine as a Veterinary Assistant.

She has always enjoyed caring for animals and brings that same kindness and enthusiasm to the pets she helps care for here at the clinic.

At home, Anna has two cats, Tigger and Oreo, and two dogs, Luna and Jax. She also enjoys caring for her chickens, which definitely keeps life interesting!

When she’s not at work, Anna loves drawing, painting, spending time with her animals, and enjoying a little creativity whenever she can. 🎨🐶🐱🐔

We’re happy to have Anna as part of the BVC team and look forward to watching her grow in veterinary medicine! ❤️

🐾 Meet Kristin Grantham! 🐾
Veterinary Assistant

Kristin has been part of the BVC team for the past three years, and her entire veterinary medicine career so far has been spent right here with us.

She has a genuine love for caring for animals and especially enjoys being an advocate for patients who can’t speak for themselves. Kristin helps care for our hospitalized and boarding pets, making sure they are comfortable, safe, and well cared for while they are away from home.

She is also continuing to grow her skills in veterinary medicine and is currently learning more of the technical side of patient care. Kristin plans to begin the Veterinary Technician program through Penn Foster as she works toward expanding her role in the profession.

Kristin is deaf and has cochlear implants, something that is simply one part of what makes her who she is. Her determination, compassion, and eagerness to learn are qualities she brings to the clinic every day.

At home, Kristin has two dogs, Gizmo and Drax, and two cats, Comet and Roxie. When she isn’t caring for animals, she enjoys building LEGO sets, swimming, and spending time with her family. ❤️

🐾 Meet Ashley Shows! 🐾

Ashley has worked in veterinary medicine for 11 years and has been an important part of Brandon Veterinary Clinic for the past five years. During her time with BVC, Ashley served in a leadership role within our technical team and played a major part in helping guide the clinic, support our staff, and provide exceptional patient care.

She especially enjoys working with geriatric patients, running laboratory diagnostics, and cytology. Ashley also has a special interest in wildlife rehabilitation and has cared for a variety of wild animals over the years—especially opossums.

More recently, Ashley expanded her veterinary career into emergency medicine at MSU-CVM’s Animal Emergency & Referral Center in Flowood, where she continues to build on the strong foundation she developed in general practice. Emergency medicine has allowed her to sharpen her critical-care skills, strengthen her clinical instincts, and thrive in the fast-paced environment she naturally gravitates toward.

Although Ashley is no longer at BVC full time, she remains very much a part of our clinic family and continues to step in to support the team whenever she can. Her years of leadership, experience, and dedication have had a lasting impact on our practice, and we’re grateful that she continues to share her knowledge and skills with us.

At home, Ashley has three very opinionated pets: two cats, Sushi and Nezuko, and a pocket bully named Wick—all with big personalities and plenty of demands for attention.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Ashley loves spending time with her family, hiking, camping in the mountains, traveling, and being on the water. She is also a busy mom to two young children who keep her motivated and always on the go. ❤️

🐾 Meet Sheryl Kennedy! 🐾
Front Desk Team

Sheryl has spent the past 20 years working in veterinary medicine, building relationships with pets and the people who love them along the way.

As a member of our front desk team, she is often one of the first smiling faces our clients see when they walk through the door. Sheryl believes that a little kindness, a listening ear, and genuine compassion can make a big difference—especially when someone is worried about a beloved pet.

One of her favorite parts of veterinary medicine is getting to know our clients and their pets and watching those relationships grow over the years. She has had the privilege of being there for families through joyful visits, difficult moments, and everything in between, and she considers it incredibly meaningful to play a small part in caring for the special bond people share with their animals.

Even after 20 years, Sheryl still feels grateful to come to work each day and do something she truly loves. To her, helping animals and their families is more than just a job—it has become a meaningful part of her life.

At home, Sheryl is also a proud pet mom to her four fur babies: Harlie, Bear, Luna Blu, and Evie. ❤️

🐾 Meet Tiffany Wells! 🐾
Lead Veterinary Technician & Practice Manager

Tiffany has been working in veterinary medicine since 2014 and joined the BVC family in November 2019. As our Lead Veterinary Technician and Practice Manager, she brings years of hands-on experience to both patient care and the day-to-day operation of the clinic. She also spent 18 months working in emergency veterinary medicine, giving her valuable experience caring for patients when they need it most.

For Tiffany, the most rewarding parts of veterinary medicine are helping patients through their recovery, providing hands-on care, being a voice for those who can’t speak for themselves, and building meaningful relationships with clients and their pets.

Her love for animals doesn’t stop when she leaves the clinic! Tiffany shares her home with two dogs, Kiddo and Beans, and two cats, Olaf and Luca. This past year, she also had the opportunity to work in wildlife rehabilitation caring for raccoons—an experience she absolutely loved. 🦝❤️

Outside of work, Tiffany enjoys spending time with her family and making memories, fishing, reading, and never passing up the chance for a good jam session. 🎣📚🎶

We’re incredibly fortunate to have Tiffany’s experience, compassion, and dedication as such an important part of the BVC team!

Have you met the fabulous staff at our clinic? Dr. Watson is the handsome guy in the white coat surrounded by the ladies, and he is the owner and founder of Brandon Veterinary Clinic for the last 18 years. We have a core crew that we will introduce one by one in upcoming posts and some new faces as well as a relief doctor. We are so excited to be growing and offering the best in class services to our animal patients. Welcome to the first post of several in meet our staff!!!
