After years of helping dogs and their humans build stronger relationships, we’re excited to announce that Jolly Dog Training is becoming Wild Spirit Canine Training!

This new name reflects the heart of what we believe about dogs and the work we do every day.

To us, a dog’s wild spirit is the part of them that makes them unique. Their instincts, drive, personality, and natural behaviors. We believe dogs thrive when they’re given opportunities to engage in genetically appropriate activities, explore their environment, and have their physical, mental, and emotional needs met through enrichment and purposeful training.

We strive to help dogs become the best version of themselves while helping their humans better understand and navigate life with them. Training isn’t just about teaching behaviors, it’s about building a relationship rooted in trust.

Training is about building clarity, confidence, and the ability to stay connected to the handler even in highly distracting environments.

Today’s session with Duck focused on a generliazing skills in a pet store setting with carts rolling by, people passing, smells everywhere, plenty of other dogs, and all the excitement that comes with a busy public environment. 🐾

This kind of work helps dogs learn:
• impulse control
• neutrality around distractions
• emotional regulation
• confidence in new environments
• handler engagement

A calm dog isn’t a “shut down” dog, it’s a dog that understands the assignment and feels secure enough to make choices we want them to rehearse regularly.

So proud of Duck and the progress he’s making!
