This week I’ve been reminiscing on everything our small but mighty rescue has accomplished over the years.

Perhaps, in some ways, I’ve even been mourning the loss of what we used to be.

I spent most of my 20’s all consumed by rescue - I lived and breathed keeping the rescue alive. Now that I’ve entered my 30’s, is it time to close this chapter and celebrate what we did accomplish?

I’m really not sure and I’m waiting for guidance and will leave it up to Him.

Since 2020, we welcomed over 450 dogs to SFCR. Just to give you a few statistics - roughly 10% of these dogs came to us already altered.

So, we’ve provided spay/neuter surgeries to over 90% of the dogs we’ve welcomed.
Over 75% of those dogs also required dentals - many that were very extensive with multiple extractions, and the rest were routine cleanings. Routine cleanings are just as important as they allow us to help preserve the dental health of our dogs.

Providing exceptional veterinary care to our rescue dogs has always been of the utmost importance to me.

We rescue a population of dogs who receive little to no veterinary care for as many years as it takes for them to be released to rescue. They come to us with so many needs and it is so important to me that we meet every single one of those needs BEFORE adopting them out.

We went out on a whim and welcomed a few new pups to rescue who have vetting needs we need to address, we have multiple high medical needs dogs in rescue who require ongoing care. Sweet Sasha has mammary tumors that need to be removed and Hank is need of another dental with likely extractions. All of our rescue pups require food and supplies to keep them happy and healthy, and several require multiple daily heart medications.

The economy has not been kind to so many of us and it has really hit our rescue hard. Everything is so expensive and is only becoming more and more expensive. We aren’t making it and we have a lot of bills and expenses to catch up on. Right when I think there might be a light at the end of the tunnel - we get hit with something else.

We’ve been fighting so hard to stay afloat but it’s becoming more and more difficult.

To our supporters that continue to cheer us on - thank you. You mean so much to us and we see you. ❤️

We need to raise a minimum of $5K to get us back on track and in a better place financially.

If we don’t pull it off, we will be forced to consider transferring out some of our current pups and closing our doors. We have to be able to care for the dogs we have in rescue and would love nothing more than to get back into a good rhythm of helping additional dogs.

We need a miracle and we need your help. Please consider a donation of any size and share this post - you never know who it might reach.

I am putting everything in his hands and trust that whatever is meant to be, will be.

Thank you for all of your love and support.

Our new girls - Maria & Charlotte went in for their initial vet appointment on Wednesday 💕

They both have raging bilateral ear infections and horrible dental disease, which we suspected.

Their bloodwork, urinalysis, and f***l tests came back WNL and parasite free 🙌🏻
They started their vaccinations as well.

Sweet Charlotte does have a cavie heart murmur and Miss Maria has a heart arrhythmia so they will need echocardiograms in addition to their spay/dental surgeries.

Please consider a donation towards their much needed care, if able. Huge thank you to everyone who donated previously.
Our supporters drive everything we do - truly.

A longer post but worth the read - we promise 🐶

Yesterday we welcomed two very special girls to SFCR. They’ve been named Maria and Charlotte, and the terrified look on their faces have already dissipated as they settle into the many comforts of their foster homes.

It was stated to us that Maria has raised more than 7 litters of puppies.
Maria is 5 years old. 💔
They were dirty and needed baths immediately but the smell of their horribly infected mouths and ears is most overpowering.

These girls have received little to no veterinary care and this is true for nearly all commercial breeding dogs. They served one purpose, which was to produce a profit even though they were forced to pay the ultimate price.

If rescue doesn’t show up for dogs like Maria and Charlotte - that’s it for them and everything they have had to endure is 100% legal.

Reproductive abuse of dogs is legal and considered acceptable.

A month ago I didn’t know how much longer SFCR would be in existence and I still don’t know, but have decided I won’t let things go down without a real fight.

These dogs are too precious and mean so much to myself and so many of you.

Maria and Charlotte are not young puppies and will require extensive dental surgery on top of their spay surgeries, vaccinations, heartworm testing, treatment for ear infections, etc, etc.

We are looking at $1500-$2K each in vet expense. They are worth every penny and although expensive to care for, these are the dogs that need us the most and we wholeheartedly believe that.

We need our incredible village of supporters to come together now more than ever. We are hoping to raise $2K to get vetting started for these two sweethearts.

If each of our followers donated just $5, we would raise over $45K, which would create incredible change.

There is an overwhelming number of dogs just like Maria and Charlotte waiting for rescue to come for them.

Please help us continue to be there for them - we so badly want to be.

If you can’t donate at this time, please consider sharing this post. Every bit helps tremendously.

Donations via Venmo, PayPal, and check are preferred as we have to wait several weeks to receive Facebook donations.

Sweet Hank wanted me to ask all of our followers if they like his new tie? 🐾❤️

Hank has been with us since last May (almost an entire year). He arrived to us pretty miserable and in congestive heart failure. He’s on 4 different heart medications that are keeping him stable and out of CHF at this time. He goes in for regular echocardiograms to monitor things closely and is truly living his life to the fullest. 💕

We are hoping to welcome a small group of deserving dogs to SFCR this weekend - something we haven’t been able to do for months.

The only thing holding us back is funding. These dogs will come with many needs - spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, dentals, heartworm testing, etc. When rescuing discarded commercial breeding dogs, you never know what kind of surprises they may bring and we need to be prepared in order to responsibly welcome these sweethearts to rescue.

The pups pictured are just a select few who have been adopted through SFCR. Their lives have changed in so many huge ways because rescue said YES to them.

My challenge to each and every one of our followers is this - please consider a donation of just $5 to help us say yes this weekend. Your donation will help transform more lives - guaranteed.

Together we can make this happen. Thank you from the very bottom of our puppy dog loving hearts 💕 🐾

This is how Harper (Ruby) started her morning and also how it ended (in the comments) 😉

Harper is a 6 year old Cavalier who came to us with undiagnosed EPI. She weighed only 9.4 pounds and was literally a sack of bones. Her poor little body was starving at the cellular level and it has taken many months to get her headed in the right direction. She’s up to 11.8 pounds and as you can see, her s***k and energy has been restored ❤️
Well, at least until her nap time 😴

Harper will require enzyme and B12 supplements lifelong. She is in stage B1 heart disease so no heart meds are needed at this time but she will need to be monitored with echocardiograms every 6 months ❤️

First, thanks to everyone for your support. We appreciate it so much! We have been quiet as we figure out our next steps...

First, thanks to everyone for your support. We appreciate it so much!
We have been quiet as we figure out our next steps. And we always want to be honest with you.
Funds are tight. We have bills to catch up on. We have 6 forever fosters in our care that have monthly medical expenses that total around $750 a month.
We have decided to take a few months off and hopefully raise funds to get caught up, allowing us to be able to provide for our medical fosters as well.
In the next coming weeks we will be sharing our medical fosters one at a time. Telling you about them and their individual needs.
We hope to continue raising money to get us back on our feet and able to continue welcoming more pups in need.
Stay tuned and please donate if you can. We truly appreciate you!

Side Note: All of our medical foster pups are cavaliers who previously resided in commercial breeding facilities. No attention was given to their basic medical needs. All that mattered was their ability to produce adorable little puppies for the public.
These dogs are worthy of so much more and will be treated as the cherished companions they always should have been.

Thank you for helping us make sure their needs are met and that they get to live out the happiest days of their lives.
