This past weekend, we made the decision to step away from the barn for a few days—to learn, to grow, and to reconnect with why we love this sport.
As owners, stepping away isn't always easy. There are horses to care for, clients to support, and countless daily responsibilities. But this weekend was a reminder that taking time to invest in ourselves ultimately makes us better for our horses, our riders, and our barn. Sometimes a little distance brings the greatest clarity.
Brian and Pickles had the privilege of training alongside and learning from some of the very best, including Olympic legends Boyd Martin, Phillip Dutton, Peter Wylde, Silva Martin, Laura Graves, Brett Parbery, and Mark Beecher. Watching great horsemen and horsewomen work is always humbling, and one lesson stood out above all the rest: a good horse is a good horse. Great training matters. There are no shortcuts—just patience, consistency, and a lifetime commitment to learning.
A special thank you to Martin, Over the years, he has been an incredible champion of both Bayboro and our family, always opening doors, sharing his knowledge, and welcoming us to opportunities like this. We are truly grateful for your friendship, generosity, and unwavering support.
We also left with full hearts after reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, and being reminded what an amazing community this is. We came home refreshed, inspired, and excited for the journey ahead. Here's to never stopping learning—for our horses, our riders, and ourselves. 💙🐴
