Adventures with Obi One!!

As you know, Mr. Obi is a singleton born via C-section. Unfortunately, Stella's milk never came in which led us to a crossroads. You see, we had a family vacation planned to South Dakota this past week. We ended up making the decision to bring Mr. Obi with us. He was being tube fed, and although my kennel assistant is amazing, I did not want to put this responsibility on to her. He came home from the vet last Tuesday weighing 504 g. After 2 days of trying to get her milk to come in and non-stop nursing, his weight dropped to 426 g. That is when I started tube feeding and I'm happy to report as of this morning, he weighs 706 grams. 🎉 2 days into our trip he learned how to drink the bottle as well! Thankfully we have a puppy incubator that helped him stay warm since newborns are not able to regulate their body temperature. We also had a makeshift warmer that he stayed in while we traveled. All in all, it went very well. I thought I was getting a break from Samherz, but guess not, but thankfully it has gone well and he was a super easy traveler. 🤣
