The live planted community tank is doing great!
Maintenance day yesterday. Rearranged some of the plants and siphoned the left side of the tank this time. I added the Windelov Java Ferns and the Cryptocoryne Undulata yesterday as well. The fish were enjoying the change and checking out the new layout.

Finally rehomed the destructive Buenos Aires Tetras last week. They ate all of the Hygrophila Polysperma plants (I watched them doing this!) and were starting to eat the Valisneria Spiralis plants and the Amazon Swords.

Plant Stocking:
•Cryptocoryne Undulata
•Cryptocoryne Wendtii "Green"
•Cryptocoryne Wendtii "Brown"
•Cryptocoryne Wendtii "Red"
•Cryptocoryne Walkeri "Lutea"
•Amazon Bleheri Compacta (Amazon Compacta Sword)
•Valisneria Spiralis (Straight Val)
•Nymphaea Zenkeri (Red Tiger Lotus)
•Ceratophyllum Demersum (Hornwort)
•Microsorum Pteropus "WINDELOV" (Windelov Java Fern)

Fish Stocking:
•3 Pearl Danios
•2 Long-Finned Leopard Danios
•6 X-ray Tetras
•1 regular Black Skirt Tetra
•4 Lambchop Rasboras
•1 Harlequin Rasbora
•1 Diamond Tetra
•3 White-Finned Rosy Tetras
•1 Long-Finned Black Skirt Tetra
•1 Japanese Algae Eating Shrimp (Amano)
•1 Clown Pleco
•1 Bluefin Killifish (male)
•5 Female Fancy Guppies (1 Dumbo Blue & Yellow lace, 1 Red/Black mosaic, 2 blond bodied glass tail, 1 blond platinum tail, 1 Japanese Blue Sword)
•5 juvenile Fancy Guppies
Lots of Ramshorn Snails and Malaysian Trumpet Snails too.

*This drip stains on the back right of the tank are from before I got the tank. I just haven't cleaned off the old buildup.

Snatched this Fluval Shrimp kit from work. I have wanted one for a few years but didn't want to pay for shipping. Sadly once I got it home and opened it there was no Fluval Stratum substrate in the box as advertised. Thankfully we had some bigger bags now at work. I bought two 8lb bags to put it in both tanks. I will be rescaping the 30 gallon breeder as well. Most who know me, know I'm not a fan of most smaller tanks, but Fluval makes some awesome ones with great filtration and lighting. Highly recommend them!

Got the Fluval Stratum planted substrate in, filled it up, heater plugged in, and turned on the filters. Had a leak start up on the right side and thought it was the bulkhead. Threw a towel down in behind the stand to contain the mess. Stuck my head back there to identify where the leak was coming from. It ended up coming from the filter where the motor attaches to the case. Unplugged and pulled it off, wiped it down, put it back together, and plugged it back in. Was good for a couple of minutes. In that time the other filter started leaking from the same spot...ugh unplugged them. I gave up for the night. Going to search for the new o-rings later. We should have some backups in the garage. Another bonus of the Fluval brand is that they can be fixed easily after market. Rescaping and planting will have to happen another night.

Project for yesterday was emptying and cleaning out the 30 gallon breeder. As well as cleaning out and behind the stand and the shelf above it. Scooped out most of the coconut fiber substrate with a fine mesh net and sucked the rest out with the hose with the water. Scraped all the calcium buildup off the tank, hood, and filters. Just need to scrape it off the back under the bulkhead. It leaked in the beginning, but the buildup has since sealed it up. My youngest daughter enjoyed helping me all day. Next step is to put the new substrate in, refill the tank, restart the filters, add the new heater, and rescape the tank with new plants, driftwood, and rocks! More updates to come!
