September 11, we pause to remember the events of that tragic day. 2,983 people were lost during the attacks. Each year the names are read as well as 6 moments of silence observed to mark the time of each attack, when the buildings fell, the attack on the Pentagon and the crash of Flight 93. We at 4 Paws encourage everyone to take a moment to honor those who were killed, the families impacted as well as those who continue to deal with the aftermath of that horrific day. I can not think of any better way to remember these people, honor the memory of their sacrifice by becoming once again the country we were 25 years ago on September 12th.

Another Great Class at the AQ K9 facility in Ramsey, Mn. 12 more people certified in Pet CPR and 1st Aid. We a shared great deal of information and several good questions were presented to the group. It is great to see 12 more people dedicated to improving the human/pet bond. Remember, we can not change the world, but we can change our little corner! Thank you again! Extreme heat warning is back. Remember to have water for your pets both inside and outside! Also, walking on asphalt and concrete is very hot! Give your pets a break. If you wouldn't walk on it bear foot. Don't let them do it. Pets in cars is also dangerous even if the window is left a bit open. Please use caution with pets and outside activities.

Our viewership is small but I do hope this message finds its way to the Ideal 1st responder who took the time to care for and transport a dog that was hit on CWC Co Rd 1 (7/20/26). The dog was banged up but released to home with no major injuries according to the veterinarian. Who knows what would have happened if you had not taken the time to care for and transport the injured dog. On behalf of 4 Paws Pet CPR and 1st aid a HUGE PAWS Up and Thank you!

Preventing Heat-Related Illness in Dogs
Use precautions to avoid heat injury in your pet during the following conditions:
• Temperatures greater than 100 degrees (use general precautions for at-risk pets at 90 degrees) Dont forget high humidity as well
• Heat index greater then 72 (start precautions for at-risk breeds)
Heat index great than 75 (use absolute precautions for at-risk breeds)
Precautions include the following:
• Keep pets in well ventilated areas.
• Provide exercise early in the morning or late in the evening (the coolest times of the day).
• Minimize exercise in hot weather.
• Do not leave your pet in a car for any reason at any time.
• Keep pets in the house in a comfortable environment during extreme weather conditions if possible.
• Limit sun exposure during the mid-day hours.
• Give your pet plenty of fresh water, and leave the water in a shady area.
• For a sudden high temperature change – allow your pet to acclimate. Many cases of heat illness occur in the spring when your pet is not yet used to the new temperatures.
• If traveling to a hotter climate, allow several days to become acclimated before allowing any vigorous exercise for your pet; work up to it gradually.
• Ensure that puppies and kittens drink adequate amounts of liquids.
