Just because they're young, doesn't mean their body isn't trying to tell you something.
Some signs we see in young pups when something is wrong:
🚩Sitting with one leg kicked out to the side: could mean hip or knee restriction, or your pup avoiding pressure on a sore joint
🚩Pancaking flat on their belly with their back legs splayed (the "frog sit"): could mean hip discomfort or developing hip dysplasia
🚩Hesitating before jumping or avoiding stairs: could mean joint pain or lack of confidence in their body
🚩Yelping when picked up a certain way: could mean spinal compression or tenderness in the area being touched
🚩Excessive licking of the same paw or leg: could mean referred pain from a joint, or a nerve being irritated higher up the spine
As always, prevention is the best medicine. Even if there are no signs of pain, keeping your pup healthy with a good diet, regular check-ins, and consistent activity is the best way to help them live a long, happy life.
