The beast is GONE! I felt like this old (1930’s) refrigerator was going to kill one of us one day, or at least lead us to an early death. We tried cleaning the flue, replacing a valve, cleaning out the burner and air intake. The more Adam and I tried to fix it (propane off-gassing) the more I read about how these old refrigerators are super dangerous if not working perfectly. So off she went. I feel lighter already. I had the privilege of riding with Amelia Newcomb Dressage this past weekend at the Stallion Station with Debby’s Escarzo (thanks Debby!). We worked through some stuff, got a lot of great exercises, found some new gears, and found some new feels. Little Essie was excellent and tried really hard, and it was so awesome for me to have Amelia’s excellent eye and quick input to help me work with him. Just as fun was to watch Amelia work with all of my students. Wow. I was smiling ear to ear watching pair after pair have breakthroughs and enjoying their time. If you are planning to audit the clinic this weekend with Amelia Newcomb, here is the clinic schedule. ‼️We kindly ask that if you plan to arrive after the 8:15 start time, that you enter the arena *between* rides, instead of while rides are in progress. ‼️The arena set up is such that you will have to walk through the arena to get to the seated area. This goes for leaving the arena as well. Thank you!!

What a show! We started the weekend off with a VERY energetic second level freestyle. ☄️☄️🔥The energy was brilliant at times but really put us ahead of the music, as it’s not Escarzo’s norm. We still put in a good test and were freestyle highpoint for the day. Our third level test debut went very well, we scored a 67+% and Escarzo was much calmer.

On Sunday, we made the most of the pouring rain and super wet footing. The splashing as Escarzo went made our canter work difficult, so I had to ride very forward to keep him in the canter rhythm (I think a lot of horses had the same issue), so we were again ahead of the music in our freestyle. But, we still did well! Our third level test was awesome. He was a little tired and again the footing made the collection in the canter difficult, but we survived with another 67%.

All in all it was a great experience with some type 2 fun, and we are better for it.
