It's National Heat Awareness Day! 🔥Did you know some pets are more prone to heat exhaustion & heat stroke? Flat-faced breeds, seniors, and overweight pets need extra care in the heat; make sure they have adequate space to cool off and drink water, and never leave any pet in a hot car! And though fun in the sun can be a great time for people, the surface heat of asphalt, concrete, sand, and metal can be up to 40 to 60 degrees hotter than the air temperature -- if its too hot for your hand to touch, its too hot for their paw pads! 🐾 By knowing the risks of heat-related health issues, pet owners can take a proactive approach to heat safety and protect pets from the dangers that accompany the joys of summer sun. ⛅
