World Rabies Day 🐾🌎

Rabies may not be something we hear about every day, but it is one of the most serious diseases we can protect our pets against. Once symptoms appear, rabies is nearly always fatal, and it can affect both animals and people.

And rabies is still very much present in the U.S. In fact, the CDC recently reported increases in rabies exposures in multiple areas across the country, making prevention as important as ever.

That’s why The Barkmore requires all pets to stay current on their Rabies vaccine. It helps protect your pet, the other animals in our care, our team, and our community.

Rabies is deadly. Vaccination is prevention. 💙🐾

Next up in our series explaining why The Barkmore requires certain vaccines for dogs:
Canine Influenza (Canine Flu) ! 💉🐾

This is the vaccine we get the most questions about. Yes, dogs can get the flu, their own canine version of it!

Dog flu is highly contagious and can spread through coughing, sneezing, barking, and shared objects. If it enters a daycare or boarding facility, it can spread quickly and cause serious illness.

We know the canine influenza vaccine may be new to families whose dogs are just starting daycare or boarding.

We require it because dogs spend time together here, and vaccination helps reduce the risk and severity of illness for the dogs in our care. 💙

Doggy School enrollment is open!🎒🐾

We’ve offered training during daycare for a while, and we’re excited to continue working with Faith, who now runs Kind Hands Dog Training! Together, we’re opening new spots for Doggy School at The Barkmore.

Your pup gets a day of fun and exercise with us, while Faith comes to The Barkmore for a training session during daycare nap time. They can work on everyday skills like basic cues, leash manners, and polite behavior in public.

📅 Starts October 13th
🐶 10-week session
📍 Multiple spots available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays

The Barkmore provides daycare, and Kind Hands provides training. To fully confirm enrollment, your pup must meet The Barkmore’s daycare requirements and complete Kind Hands’ consultation and paperwork. Daycare and training are purchased separately.

Next up in our series explaining why The Barkmore requires certain vaccines for dogs - Bordetella! 💉🐾

When dogs gather for daycare or boarding, respiratory illnesses can spread more easily through close contact and shared spaces. Requiring the Bordetella vaccine helps lower the risk and severity of Bordetella-related illness while supporting a healthier environment for every dog in our care.
