A first for Diamond and a lifesaving gift from Bradley. 🐾

What a special moment for our team as Vet Assistant Diamond facilitated her first blood donation with the support and guidance of teammates, ER Supervisor Kim and Vet Assistant Steven!

It was a great opportunity to learn, ask questions, and gain hands-on experience alongside members of the team.

And we can't forget the star of the show: Bradley! His blood donation can help provide critical support to another patient in need, and he was pretty great while our team worked around him, too.

We're grateful for moments that allow our team to learn together and especially grateful for four-legged heroes like Bradley who make them possible. 💙

HEROES IN THE BUILDING! 🩸

Meet Ivy and Graham.

This week, these two incredible blood donors stopped by to do something pretty special: help give another pet a fighting chance.

After plenty of treats, cuddles, and well-earned praise, they were on their way home, leaving behind a gift that could make all the difference for a pet in need.

Thank you, Ivy and Graham. We think you're pretty amazing. ❤️

Let's hear it for Pickles! 🖤🐾

When he arrived at DCES, the odds were stacked against him.

After being found in a window well, this tiny kitten was brought to our Emergency team hypothermic, severely anemic from fleas, and largely unresponsive. He was critically ill, and every second mattered.

Our Emergency team immediately went to work, combining advanced medicine with around-the-clock nursing care to give Pickles every possible chance.

One of the treatments that helped save his life was a xenotransfusion. It's an emergency blood transfusion from one species to another. While it's not something most pet owners have ever heard of, this advanced procedure can provide critically ill kittens with precious time while their own bodies begin to recover. Pickles received multiple xenotransfusions as part of his care.

But medicine was only part of his story.

Throughout his stay, Pickles was surrounded by a team that celebrated every small victory. Among them was Jess, who became one of his biggest champions, comforting him through treatments, carrying him close, and cheering him on every step of the way.

Today, these photos are more than a look back at one remarkable patient. They're a reminder of why we do what we do.

Some patients arrive when the odds feel impossible.

Sometimes, with advanced medicine, collaboration, and a whole lot of heart... they get another chance.

Way to go, Pickles. ❤️

🌈 Pride Day at DCES 🐾

Yesterday, our team came together in celebration of Pride Month and the values we’re proud to carry throughout the year: kindness, respect, inclusion, and belonging.

At DCES, we're committed to creating a hospital community where our team members, clients, and families feel welcomed, supported, and free to be themselves. That commitment matters every day, in the way we care for our patients, support one another, and show up for the people who walk through our doors.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Pride Day and helped make the moment special.

Happy Pride Month from all of us at DCES! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Meet Ryland. ❤️🐾

One look at that face and you can probably tell who's running the show! Today, she's busy stealing hearts, collecting cuddles, and making friends wherever she goes.

It's hard to believe this little pup has already overcome so much. At just 5 weeks old, Ryland faced pneumonia, multiple wounds, a severe infection, and ultimately the loss of one of her legs.

Today, she's doing wonderfully and continues to prove that resilience comes in all sizes.

We'd say she's pretty inspiring... but Ryland would probably prefer to be called adorable. ❤️

Help us celebrate Ryland by sharing some love in the comments below!
