Meet our absolutely precious and darling boy, Rocky!
“Can I come up on your lap and cuddle?”
He always asks so politely! What a happy guy! SO sweet and SO gentle! He loves everyone and everything and looks at you with eyes so trusting as he eagerly follows to see what you’re up to.
Rocky was estimate to be 8 or 9 years old but he acts more like 4. He’s about 35 lbs. and on the smaller side of medium. He is a quiet guy and does not mind other dogs or cats and will happily accept kisses from them. He’s friendly around chew bones, toys, water, and food bowls. I haven’t heard him bark but he does join the other dogs in an impromptu serenade.
I don’t know that he has ever been in a home before but he has been a quick learner! He successfully mastered the dog door to do his business outside in the yard. We are looking for an adopter who has either a fully secure fenced in yard for him, or an adopter who is willing to keep him safely leashed outside. He is crate trained and will hang out in a crate while no one is home, with no issues.
Rocky arrived in rescue having small bumps all over his body which was biopsied and came back as a condition that is a result of chronic over-exposure to the sun. This condition plus the scar around his neck is assumed that he lived outside on a chain in Texas. Despite that he is so loving and trusting. Rocky will surely benefit from a loving home where he can learn what it is to be a cherished member of the family. You too will be rewarded with him politely asking you for snuggles, with big sighs of relief while falling asleep in your lap, and with the most adorable soft snores.

Introducing the goober of the century, 3yr old, 20 pound, Ripple❤️ before you instantly fall in love with him(though I know it’s hard looking at him) Ripple is looking for a specific home. We ask that you fully read his bio and think about if you are able to give him the life that he needs and deserves, or if you are only applying because he’s cute.
Yes, Ripple is a dachshund, and he falls under the typical personality of dachshunds, but he also went through the trauma of losing his home and family after they decided to rehome him. Baby boy arrived to us emaciated, having never gone to the vet, and still intact. Since then he has gotten up-to-date with his vaccines, has been neutered, is on preventatives, and at a healthy weight. However, this boy, is a classic overthinker/worrier, and lets his anxiety run rampant. He needs a mama who is ready to make him their entire world, and is either retired or works from home and will let him lay in your lap during work. He would absolutely live inside your skin if it were possible, and forget going to the bathroom alone🤣He needs someone kind, patient, caring and loving. Someone who’s going to take the time to make sure that he feels safe in the world, help him grow and get confident on a timeline that matches him, not what you want him to be. He’s extremely smart and being VERY food motivated, and will be a wonderful training partner. Ripple is fantastic with other dogs, has NO issues with cats, and is a little bit confused and intimidated by chickens🤣 He’s playful, very silly, and is made from love❤️ He sleeps under the covers, cuddled up, and wakes up in the morning with gentle kisses. He will not present well, and will bark and bark at you until you offer him treats, then the tides will turn, and he will be your best friend forever!
A fenced in yard would be ideal, as he can be a flight risk when he’s afraid. If you have the biggest heart, loving arms, a warm lap, a quiet life, and you would like to take a step forward in meeting/adopting this precious baby boy, please send in an application!

Meet the brightest, joyous, goofy, spitfire, Carlie! This active year and a half year old(40 pound) young girl, cannot believe her good luck, after arriving here in Maine, and waiting for her forever family! She is excellent with dogs(any and all sizes and energies) cats, and kids(though we recommend dog savvy kids who don’t mind getting knocked into while playing with a exuberant and wiggly Carlie🤣). This lady is so funny, and in one session with Carly, learned how to sit(in her own way) and flirt for treats. She is highly food motivated, and extremely smart, which sets her up nicely for you to do training with her! She would absolutely love a household that is ready and able to explore Maine, going on outdoor adventures, and ending the day curled up on the couch for some good old-fashioned snuggles, and your favorite TV show. She’d probably love to have other dogs to play with, and would love to join your pack!
Though it may be a little hard to tell in pictures, once you meet her in person, you will be absolutely stunned by how beautiful she is, and how unique she is! The beautiful Gray coloring, is matched in her beautiful gray/green eyes🥹 if you’d like to meet this, spunky good girl, please send in your application!!

Fox and Phineas were adopted this summer to the most lovely person who loves them exactly for who they are and gives them the most incredible life!
Fox is blind, and Phineas is mostly deaf, and together they make up best friends/a team/a siblingship🥹

Meet our GORGEOUS Rosebud!
This four year old, Dobby eared, 50 lb goober is a total sweetheart❤️She is an easy to handle dog, LOVES smooches, and 10/10 zoomies that make you cackle with laughter while she’s going! Unlike other dogs who like to be jumpy, she’s got complete respect for all four on the floor and does not jump at all. Her favorite snack are acorns of all things😂yet another good example of the silly personality that inhabits this gal! Rosebud is good with dogs(we require a meet and greet of any potential dog siblings) who are either smaller or bigger than she is, but she seems to not like dogs the same size as her🙄talk about quirky🤦🏻‍♀️We do think she has lived in a home before and is respectful of home living and she would really love love to find her forever home! Her forever home however DOES need to be cat free. And older kids who are ready to play without being too small without being knocked over by her exuberance😂Her favorite person at the sanctuary is a 14 year old🥰

Time for another happily ever after adoption story! Bluejay was not listed publicly yet, but was ready and we knew this would be a beautiful match… and it sure is🥹🥰🥳congratulations to his family! I want to thank The Minnis Sanctuary for finding this special doggie ROSCO P COALTRAIN. When I was approved and had my call with their adoption coordinator, I wasn’t expecting to meet him that same day, but after telling her what I was looking for in a dog, she told me there a dog she’s fostering (he fits everything you are looking for) and would I like to meet him. We got in car drove to Freeport couldn’t wait to see him. We went in a room he was very anxious and scared, and barking, but excited, so I sat on floor to meet him I was not thinking he was the one waited until he calmed down and Bob gave him a treat and then Rosco jumped into his lap and that stole my heart. He’s a great dog for my family he’s smart,loving,minds good, learns fast, we just love him!
