🐾 Meet Lucky!
Looking for a four-legged adventure buddy, professional cuddler, and part-time social butterfly? Lucky might be your guy!
Lucky is a handsome, approximately 1½-year-old Schnauzer mix with energy to spare and a heart even bigger than his personality. He loves to run, play fetch, go for walks, and will happily ride in the car with his head out the window.
But don’t let all that energy fool you. Once Lucky has had a chance to get his zoomies out, he is more than happy to settle in beside you. In fact, he’s a serious cuddle enthusiast. He’ll follow you around, curl up next to you (or on you), and happily hand out kisses.
Lucky is also a total social butterfly. He seems to love dogs of all shapes and sizes and mostly just wants to run, play, and make friends. And people? He hasn’t met a stranger yet. He can’t even take a walk without making a new friend!
He’s smart, food-motivated, and already knows sit and shake, while working on stay and down. He’s house-trained(excused accidents aside) and has done well when left alone. He’s also got a pretty entertaining quirk: when he gets really excited, he sometimes chases his own tail.
Like any young, energetic dog, Lucky is still working on his manners. His enthusiastic greetings can sometimes turn into jumping, and because he’s a tall, strong guy, his excitement can be a little much for smaller children. For that reason, a home without small children would probably be the best fit. He also has a strong prey drive and will chase cats and squirrels, so a cat-free home is a must.
Lucky would thrive with an active person or family who enjoys getting outside and has experience with young, energetic dogs. Someone who wants a companion for walks, hikes, adventures, games of fetch, and then some serious couch cuddling afterward would be right up his alley.
He’s not looking for a perfect person—just someone who will give him exercise, structure, patience, and plenty of love while he continues growing into the wonderful dog he’s meant to be.
If you’re looking for a sweet, goofy, energetic adventure buddy who will probably introduce you to half the neighborhood on your walks, Lucky would love to meet you!

!Happy story time for Nimbus aka Charlie!
Hi! My name is Charlie. Sir Charles, if you will, and this is my story! I was saved from the streets in Texas a couple years ago and whisked to Maine by this awesome organization called The Minnis Sanctuary-they had compassion on me, knowing I was bound for a k*ll shelter. I don’t remember much about my younger days but I do remember getting adopted by one family and I loved them but they returned me because their other dogs didn’t like me. I was so sad and ended up on anxiety medication but Minnis didn’t give up on me! I wasn’t a bad dog, I was heartbroken and so down. Was I lovable? My foster family assured me I was, so I kept waiting, even though I wasn’t convinced. One day a family of 4 showed up to see me-I couldn’t believe it! A Dad, a Mom, a sister, a brother and even a little girl dog. I sniffed them top to bottom, jumped on them and felt an instant connection-this was my furever family-I could smell it! My foster asked if we wanted to go for a trial run together but I said no thanks, I was going home with them and not coming back this time!
We had the best first ride home-they got me Panera, spoiled me at Petco and cuddled the whole way home! I found out we owned chickens, ducks and turkeys with a huge fenced in yard and they buy me the BEST food and snacks. I’m so in love with my family! They don’t even care that I prefer the couch to the expensive bed they bought me. My Dad comes home every night from work and plays with me. My Mom works from home and I’m her little shadow. Ok maybe big shadow but she doesn’t seem to mind tripping over me time to time. Her and I are tighter than two peas in a pod! We also have a boat now so when I’m not patrolling the homestead or the kitchen for scraps I’m out on the Maine lakes looking pretty majestic if I do say so myself. At least that’s what my groomer calls me. I think I it fits!
I’m so grateful to Minnis for saving my life and now I have the fullest and happiest life possible!
Won’t you consider adopting an awesome dog like me from them? My family says they promise it’s worth it!

Meet our absolutely gorgeous brindle, two year-old Bullmastiff, Willow!! This lovely girl weighs around 66 pounds.
Willow is great with cats, absolutely loves to be around people, and after initial monitored meeting of other dogs, she is A OKAY with them!
This sweetie pie is already house trained, crate trained, and her FAVORITE thing is finding your bed, to claim it as hers, and snuggle the night away with you!
She is currently living at the sanctuary surrounded by dogs, cats, and a teen, and she’s loving Maine life, but her dream is to find her forever family, where she can be be the center of someone’s world!

Meet precious little Benny! Once comfortable, he will genuinely follow your footsteps right in between your legs, even while walking🤣 Hard to get a minute alone without him(just kidding it’s the best).He's not one to lay with and snuggle for the night, but he will stay by your side all day long. Loves attention, his ears scratched, he’s good for laying in any cat bed, and loves wand toys. Crack open a can and he will come running(not kidding about how much he LOVES wet food🤣), such a good calm boy❤️He would love to be adopted with one of his siblings.

He is being fostered with two young kids, so kids would be fine as long as they are RESPECTFUL and know not to grab, or enter his personal space until he’s comfortable with them.
Benny and his siblings will still need help in their new home to understand that people are okay, and it will take time for her to feel like it’s home. We are NOT in a rush to adopt them out, we want it to be a home that truly understands patience and making sure their well being is the most important thing.

Meet Barbie! She's a delight that brings curiosity and skepticism in the mix all at once. Shes a firm believer of doing things herself, but does love attention. Butt scratches are a must🤣Seems to love to be with at least one other cat at all times(she would love to be adopted with one of her siblings). Barbie is a very affectionate girl, just very skeptical at the same time(she’s gonna need to trust you before she lets you in). And she LOVES to chase a laser pointer for HOURS!

As we move into this week, and we start posting our available kittens for adoption, we wanted to re-share happily ever after adoption story of Miso, Tofu, and Binx❤️ and the reason for this is because we want people to understand that just because these kittens are working on not being feral cats, they absolutely have all of the possibility in the world to become normal, happy, silly, sassy, playful, pushy cats! Miso Tofu arrived to their foster home at five weeks old, determined to hate humankind for all of time, but after significant work at learning that people are good(sometimes) they opened their hearts, and welcomed our love! Binx being the social and loving Cat that she is, helped them see that people were not so bad as well🥹We want adopters, who see the cute kitten faces, to understand that they are not like other kittens who want to snuggle and be close to you at all times, you’re gonna have to prove to them that you are good, and good enough for them to trust. But once you do, you will have an everlasting love, and honestly, there is no other love like a feral cat, trusting you! As a reminder, we only adopt to indoor only homes, and we are happy to adopt out multiple cats to one home, and one kitten if there is already at least another cat in the home, that can help show them the way❤️

As more dogs are surrendered locally and being brought in from high-kill shelters in southern states, the number of adopters is down, putting stress on rescuers trying to save dogs.

This sweet, gentle girl is house trained, dog/cat friendly, super sweet, great on a leash and happy to just lounge around the house! Since arriving in Maine, she has decided she likes it here and extra likes the flavored bubbles being used as enrichment/entertainment! This sweet gal is going to make a family so very happy!
