Wowza!
If you know me, you know I’m a big fan of rehab-type projects, so meet Sage!
Sage came into my program back in September with the goal of a simple tune up to give her mom a little more rideability. However, the moment she stepped onto my property, it was clear to me that she was going to be much more of a project.
Fast-forward four months, and while she’s certainly not “done,” because let’s be real, no horse ever truly is, she is absolutely making steady, meaningful progress toward becoming a comfortable and healthy mare.
So what did it take to get here? I could probably write a 10-page essay on this horse, but I’ll keep it short:
• No riding, only very intentional groundwork for the first 6-8 weeks
• Bodywork and chiropractic, alternating every 3-4 weeks
• Adequan, Equioxx, and Robaxin
• Diet changes
• Farrier work
• Saddle fitting
• Bloodwork
• Very purposeful riding
• So. Much. More.
And last, but certainly not least, an incredibly supportive owner who trusted my judgment every step of the way.
Extra shout out to every professional who continues to play a role in helping Sage along the way. This has most definitely been a team effort, and I’m so grateful for our professionals!
