Feels like summer is here!

This week we have our first few really hot days of this year. Going from 50-60 to above 90 is a big jump, and on those super hot days, it can be very easy for dogs to overheat.

My summer plan is to get an earlier start to try to beat to the peak heat of the day, we stick to the shady paths where it feels cooler, and spend more time by the water to keep cool. I pay close attention for signs of overheating, bring plenty of water (1gallon just for the pups) and we get out a little early if I see anyone struggling too much with the heat.

All that said, I have a few open slots on Thursday, and just a couple open slots on Friday if anyone wants to change days this week to be extra safe.

Today I found the first tick I’ve seen this season. A friendly reminder to make sure your pups are up to date on flea and tick prevention, and that while do a tick check on the pups and give them a little wondercide spray to help prevent ticks, it’s worth doublechecking just in case as the ticks are so tiny.

This post is all about Charlie. Since I’ve been taking him with me more regularly on hikes he is a much calmer guy at home. Enjoying some naps, cuddles, and a nice snack. He loves making friends, with dogs, humans, and probably most other mammals. Not birds though! Charlie doesn’t understand birds. I don’t let him terrorize any, but he thinks it’s weird that they can fly away. Very “unnatural”…
