This is Luna. Her owner called I Speak Dog as soon as she brought Luna home and realized Luna was going to be a bit more challenging than her other dogs.

You are training your puppy with every interaction so if you are less than confident in what message you giving, we are here to help.

Our pro tip: ➡️ Your puppy's mom and littermates were shaping her behavior and holding her accountable right up until the minute you picked her up. Your puppy wants your guidance!

How many toys should I give my new puppy?

➡️ Your puppy should have a variety of toys to play with and chew on. You don’t need to buy half the store, but try to get a few different textures and sizes so he can explore.

Our pro tip: Keep all but four or five toys put away and rotate them. Your puppy will love the variety and not become overwhelmed with choices.

Here’s Piper!

A 5 month-old Vizsla puppy who’s just learned the “Place” command. Despite the distractions of nearby toys and another dog, she stays put. What great impulse control she has learned!

How can I get my puppy to wait for his food?

Our tip? ➡️ Puppies are born with the instinct to work for rewards, and just like us, are happier when they have jobs to complete. Practice getting your puppy to “work” for his food by sitting calmly before you put his bowl down.

Here's Lily, practicing a perfect "place" command!

Before training, Lily followed her mom from room to room and could not relax when her mom was not paying attention to her. This made it very challenging for her mom to work from home, cook a meal or just enjoy some quiet time.

But here she is now! Learning "Place" has turned out to be a game changer for Lily. Similarly to how meditation helps humans, "Place" has helped Lily gain the confidence to chill out on her own.
