“Life is short.
Lately, I’ve been reminded of that more than ever. Losing people you care about changes your perspective.

Take the trip.
Spend time with the people you love.
Slow down enough to enjoy the moments that actually matter. ❤️🌴”

In this video, Chris breaks down common dog training tools — from collars and harnesses to long lines and e-collars — and explains when and why he might use each one.
With over 30 years of professional experience, his approach is simple:
✔️ The dog comes first
✔️ The tool supports the training — not the other way around
This isn’t about controversy.
It’s about clarity, safety, and effective communication.

Thinking about installing an invisible fence?
Where you place it matters more than most people realize.

In this video, Chris explains why invisible fences should never be set near sidewalks or the front of the home.

Repeated exposure to neighbors, kids on bikes, runners, or other dogs can increase territorial behavior and frustration.
Over time, that stimulation can condition a dog to fixate on movement instead of calmly ignoring it.

The dog understands the boundary.
The public doesn’t.

In the full 4-minute video on our YouTube channel, Chris breaks this down in more detail — including real training scenarios and why placement changes behavior.

At Stronghaus, we focus on obedience training that prioritizes safety for everyone — dogs and people alike.

Before obedience ever becomes reliable, a dog has to feel safe enough to try.
In this session, Chris focuses on building confidence — showing the dog that they can walk through uncertainty together.
That trust matters.
Whether it’s cars, other dogs, or unfamiliar environments, the dog learns that Chris will not let anything hurt them.
It’s the same trust you see on the Stronghaus farm — where cats move freely around dogs because they trust the handler and the structure in place.
Confidence isn’t forced.
It’s built through consistency, clarity, and leadership.

Walking through the fire.

This session shows the beginning of the Place command with a dog who’s nervous about stepping onto the bed.

Chris takes his time — offering leadership without pressure and allowing the dog to think through the exercise.

Trust comes before obedience.
When dogs trust their handler, they’re willing to step forward — even when something feels uncomfortable.

Chris starts by working on the sit command — which automatically means he’s also working on stay.
At Stronghaus, sit doesn’t mean “for a second.”
It means hold position until released.
When the dog makes a mistake, Chris doesn’t correct emotionally — he welcomes it.
Mistakes are information.
They’re another chance to make the dog smarter and more obedient.

This builds on the crate / inside command we shared earlier — where accountability starts before obedience ever shows up.

High drive doesn’t mean high chaos.

Part 2 of our Everyday Obedience Series.

This dog wants to go — and that’s exactly why Chris doesn’t slow things down.

As Chris moves, talks, and creates anticipation, the dog learns to hold a down without reminders, corrections, or micromanagement — even with real distractions nearby.

Watch closely.
Most people miss the moment his head drops and his body relaxes.

That isn’t exhaustion.
That’s understanding.

This builds on the crate / inside command we shared earlier — the foundation that makes this level of obedience possible.

More from this same training series is coming next.

2016 → 2026

Stronghaus Training Center didn’t begin in 2016.
It reflects over 30 years of working dogs.

Chris has spent decades training, handling, and working dogs across multiple disciplines, long before Stronghaus had a name.

That experience shaped how dogs are trained here today — with an emphasis on reliability, accountability, and follow-through at home.
