Arnie and I have a routine.

When I (Amber) am at the sanctuary I always let Arnie out so we can walk to the field together. He is always super excited and ready for this little adventure. He was pretty impatient today when I got there as I had to take Chanel to the shelter first. He definitely didn't want to wait, running to his door and demanding his outting. 😆

We also have to be careful about who is at the sanctuary when I let him out as he isn't super fond of new people.

Getting to this point with him took a very long time and I am always so proud of his progress!

The post everyone loves to see

Chanel got her freedom ride today and headed to ASSHS where she will be placed for adoption.

She was so happy to meet everyone and we learned she knows how to sit, shake and lay down.

Chanel had been at the sanctuary for two years after being found as a stray. 😕 She didn't need to be here and now she gets her chance at a new forever home!

Thank you to Anita's Stevens Swan Humane Society for believing in second chances and allowing our dogs these opportunities. Once she is completely vetted she will be available for adoption.

The universe planned today for us first thing this morning. After the little adventure the three dogs had, we spent today fixing their run.

We dug down so the fence could be attached to the back standing fencing and buried about three feet into the runs.

The camper was also moved so it can be demolished in a location farther from the Gabby and Delilah (Horse and cow). That was quite the project as the tires were off the rims and it had been sitting for a long time.

Thank you to our volunteers who are always making things happen!!! We appreciate them all so so much.

I almost forgot!!! Heather Helmes and Amber Zehr-McCormick (me) we're finally about to go into Max, Mamba and Gigi's outside run!!! Max was a treat scrounge, Gigi was polite and patient and Mamba could have cared less about us and kept his distance.

A few recent purchases we had to make for upgrading the facility.

A pressure tank for the water pump in the front of the sanctuary which will help with getting water into the new building ($300). We also purchased the polycarbonate sheets to use for our new dog doors, along with hinges to secure them ($240). Drop cloths to divide the barn so the heat will remain more on the side where the dogs are housed to help with efficiency in that building.

We always appreciate any help we can get with the cost of items and supplies to continue with upgrades. We know times are tough for everyone so we are so grateful for anything we receive. We currently have a little of over 6,000 followers so even $1 from each of our followers would make a huge difference for us to continue the upgrades. Improving the life of these dogs is our main focus and never ending goal, instead of having the mindset of "better than it was" we will continue to think "what can we do to make it better."

Winter is coming so most of our days now are spent preparing for it.

Linda had been working on fixing the dog doors which is always a never ending battle. Some of the dogs, no matter what we try, rip the flaps off their doors which in winter months is not good for our heat bills. So now she is trying something new which seems so far to be holding up 🤞.

Heather had the oh so fun duty of the doody 💩.
This is obviously a never ending task but very important. She also did a garbage haul which no matter how much we clean it seems like the garage continues to grow.

Dara and Ireland Payne, a few of our new volunteers, came and helped put away the newest food donations and passed out treats to the dogs in the back buildings.

Busy, busy, busy but damn it feels good!!!

We could not be happier to announce we have received our very first grant!! 🎉

The Tiny Tim Rescue Fund has awarded the sanctuary $1,000!!

This organization is also a registered 501c3 that supports independent animal rescue groups, sanctuaries, and shelters working around the clock to save dogs from euthanasia. If you are looking for another great cause to support, this is it!!!

After being denied for so many grants over the last several years this was the push we needed to remain hopeful.

A big thank you to Donna LoGalbo Kobielski who is working hard at researching and applying for these grants for us! We appreciate you.
