😻 ADOPTION #54 FOR KITTY CAT REHAB 😻

Cyrus ❤️. This long-haired beauty was an unclaimed stray living amongst a feral cat colony of 12. He and two others were far too friendly for the streets and were quickly brought into our care before winter hit on August 30th, 2026.

Thankfully at the feral colony location, he was consistently being fed and watered so he wasn't in the worst shape. He had his fair share of fleas and dirty ears but no internal parasites were presented even after full deworming treatments. He handled his flea bath well and was nuetered shortly after intake. He is such a cuddly kitty so he came out to our Sam's Club adoption events where he handled the noises very well.

We recently became partnered with Pet Supplies Plus over in Ames and used this as a great opportunity for him to gain exposure. His current parents made several visits to see him prior to adoption. They took a lot of time visiting with him and talking about a new addition. They decided to pursue a meet/greet with Cyrus outside of the store and it was AMAZING. They couldn't be happier with his affectionate & chill personality. He's adjusting smoothly at his new home with the proper transition and learning that dogs are friends too!

We couldn't be more thankful for his adopters taking this process slow to ensure another addition was the right move for their family. He is so loved and we are blessed to receive continuous updates on him ❤️.

The momma to the kittens that were TNR'd from this location finally had her turn!! 😻

This momma will be reunited with her babies fixed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea treated and ear notched! There's only two more left at this location, another adult female & one more kitten.

This continues to be a major team effort! Hailey, Hannah & Cat with Animal Protection and Education Charity continue to be a HUGE help. We couldn't do this without them!! 😊

This cat was fully sponsored by the amazing caretaker who was also able to trap this momma. Kitty Cat Rehab's role was the two day recovery period and release. TNR truly is a community effort and we couldn't be more thankful for everyone who comes together to help give these cats the care they deserve. ❤️

2026 stats: 142 cats fixed/vaccinated
76 spays (65 being TNR)
66 nueters (45 being TNR).

⚠️ NEW INTAKE ALERT ⚠️

Toad ❤️. This sweet baby girl has a lot going on. At only 0.78lbs, she has a shortened spine, enlarged heart, nub for a tail, severe overbite and a messed up pelvis. Upon intake it was noted that she had a severely distended stomach. After further inquiry, a caring individual took her in but gave her goat milk for 5 days straight without water or kitten food. Toad is weaned so this stomach upset set her back a little.

Immediately in Kitty Cat Rehab's care, she was given a bath, ears cleaned and dewormed. She had a belly full of worms. She saw the amazing vet tech LeAnn at the very last minute. Thanks to her, Toad was seen promptly the next morning where X-rays were taken, FVRCP vaccinated and she got to spend the whole day being spoiled at the vet office.

Toad is in great spirits. She is acting like a normal kitten, she gets the zoomies, eats/drinks and uses the litter box like normal. We are all very eager to see her progress. She's extremely unique and leaves a lot of people in the vet world confused on what to do with her. Once she's put on weight, she'll go in for further testing to determine long-term management. Until then, she's on top quality food, strict monitoring and receiving all the love in the world.

😻 ADOPTION #52 & #53 FOR KITTY CAT REHAB 😻

Dexter & Sylvester ❤️. These two brothers came from a very high kill shelter with 3 of their siblings. Shortly upon intake, they started displaying signs of ringworm & respiratory infections. These babies mowed through multiple cans of wet food for the first week in an attempt to make up for the days they went without food as strays. It's a miracle they were all found together. They all had prolonged recoveries, but blossomed into the sweetest kitties we've had the pleasure of raising.

Fortunately for them, they found a home TOGETHER!! It's always a great feeling seeing a cat/kitten get adopted.. but when they go in pairs AND are siblings?! It's the most ideal situation. Not everyone can handle a kitten's robust personality, let alone two having the zoomies at the same time 😹. They now get to live their years indoors and leave their past behind them and flourish.. TOGETHER 😻.

😻 ADOPTION #51 FOR KITTY CAT REHAB 😻

Olaf ❤️. In February, Olaf was found frozen to the ground, 4 hours away from Kitty Cat Rehab. A caring individual found and took him in. At the time, he had a tightly bound collar that was digging deep into his skin. The tip of his ear was black from frostbite. He was extremely malnourished. He wasn't fixed and he wasn't microchipped. He was suffering and needed intervention fast.

The person who took him in contacted Kitty Cat Rehab and we quickly brought him into our safe haven. He adjusted extremely quickly after the invasive intake processes. He just needed someone to love him back because he had so much love to give.

He found his forever at our Sam's Club event and it couldn't have been a better match. The new owner was extremely inquisitive, asking all the right questions to ensure it wasn't just a good fit for her, but that her lifestyle was a good fit for him too ❤️.

He's LOVING the indoor climate controlled environment and will never have to succumb to a near death experience by nature ever again. He lost the tip of his ear, but it is a reminder of his battles. That missing tip is a reminder that when we stand up for the voiceless, we have the power to turn a tragic past into a beautiful new beginning. ❤️

Huxley & Marshaltown nueter & spay this week!!

The Marshaltown spay was HUGE. They were the final cat that needed fixed in a cat colony of 12. They are now all fixed/vaccinated and will live out their lives kitten free. Every rescue loves being able to say that a colony is now FULLY STERILIZED!! ❤️❤️.

2026 stats: 141 cats fixed/vaccinated
75 spays (64 being TNR)
66 nueters (45 being TNR).

5 cats from Boone were sterilized & vaccinated this week! 💕 3 males & 2 females. Yesterday I released them after two days of recovery!

Huge shout-out to Animal Protection and Education Charity for getting these babies vetted and the last minute appointments. Hailey, Hannah & Cat over at APE have been the primary lead for trapping. They have spent countless hours at this trap site waiting for the traps to go off. A vital step in getting these cats cared for!

As many may know, we have been depleted on funds and running this mission on our own financially. However, we are so so extremely blessed for one of the board members, Patsy, for donating to APE and as a by-product, these 5 were free for Kitty Cat Rehab!! Moving forward, Kitty Cat Rehab will continue to be paired with APE to get all these Boone kitties vetted AT COST!! 💕 This is a huge financial relief for us and will allow us to continue our mission!! Thank you to everyone over at APE!!! ❤️

Doing some TNR over in our stomping grounds here in Boone!! 😻

For this mission of 6 cats/kittens, we are working directly with Animal Protection and Education Charity to get these babies fixed/vaccinated! We also have the opportunity to support this amazing clinic by bringing in these local kitties, so it's a double bonus!!

Huge thanks to Hailey & Cat who spent close to 2 hours watching traps late at night this week. They caught one female kitten who received proper vetting and I was fortunate enough to get a video of the release! This couldn't have been possible without the dedication from the ladies at APE! We are very grateful to have this connection and we are all very eager to save some more lives!! 🥳 Janessa is the wonderful veterinarian at APE and has a huge heart for these babies. She's going to be the one giving each one of them their vetting. Thank you team!!!

If interested in supporting not just KCR, but a small vet clinic as well, you can call APE and make a donation to "Kitty Cat Rehab account". Any little bit helps!

$70 fully sponsors a cat and it includes: flea/tick prevention, rabies, FVRCP vaccine, spay/neuter, ear tip and microchip!! 😻

TNR Thursday coming in hot from a city over an hour away with 5 females 😻.

We were able to spay two females before they were pregnant and that's always encouraging to see 💪🏼.

Our newest intakes came from this colony and now there's only TWO left to fix here!!

Huge thanks to Jocelyn for feeding these sweet souls. She's out there nearly everyday and takes on the task of gathering & trapping them for their appointments. Karla has been another huge help during the process and getting these cats to and from their appointments.. so much driving! But it's all worth it to see these cats fixed, vaccinated and back to their home where they thrive!

Kitty Cat Rehab has the easy part - writing the check! 😹 If you're passionate about TNR and willing to chip in on their costs, we currently have a balance of $118 at All Pets Animal Hospital over in Ames. We are also doing TNR in our stomping grounds in Boone and will be running a tab up to support our local vet at Animal Protection and Education Charity.

If interested, you can support these ongoing missions by calling into either vets to make a donation to "Kitty Cat Rehab account".

Remember the feral mama that gave birth the day of her spay appointment?

Here she is today! She was spayed, vaccinated & ear tipped yesterday morning. This morning she and an old friend sit side by side for their 3 week transition period in their new home. Her companion was fixed/vaccinated on our big TNR event on July 3rd from a neglected, foreclosed property with over 50 cats on site. After weeks of training/socializing, the young male continued to yearn for the outdoors. Since he's not suitable for indoors, it was the perfect plan to send the two familiar buddies to their new barn home!

Her kittens are with one of our newest fosters and getting properly socialized with young kids, big dogs and cats! Stay tuned for an update on them in the near future ❤️.

Feral or friendly, every cat deserves a great life. They didn't choose to be abandoned and forgotten about. It's our duty as compassionate humans to help give them their deserving chance at a healthy life 😻.
