FDA Announces Recall on Blueberries Sold in 8 States for Potential E. Coli Contamination
They’ve already sickened 12 people.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration has announced a recall of frozen blueberries sold in eight states that may be contaminated with Escherichia coli O145:H28 (E. coli O145). Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. of San Carlos, Chile, is recalling its Frozen GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries sold at Publix stores after 12 confirmed cases of E. coli infection were reported.

How To Identify the Recalled Frozen Blueberries
The recalled frozen blueberries were sold in 10-ounce bags labeled “Organic GreenWise Whole Blueberries.” Only the frozen blueberries with the lot code “60401” and best-by date of Feb. 9, 2028, on the packaging are impacted by this recall.

The FDA has label images to help customers identify the contaminated berries on its site.

The recalled frozen blueberries were sold at Publix stores only in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

What To Do if You Have the Recalled Frozen Blueberries
Frutas y Hortalizas S.A. initiated the recall after customers complained of digestive illnesses following consumption of the frozen blueberries. At the time of this reporting, 12 confirmed cases linked to E. coli O145:H28 have been reported.

If you have the recalled GreenWise frozen blueberries, you should not consume them. Instead, throw them away or return them to your Publix store for a full refund.

If you’ve already consumed the frozen blueberries, you should monitor yourself for an E. coli infection. Common symptoms include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting. Most healthy individuals recover from E. coli infections within a week; however, young children, older people, and those with weakened immune systems can have more serious complications, including hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), which can be life-threatening.

We are getting closer folks! Once a blueberry turns blue, it still needs a good week to really sweeten up.
We're shooting for the week of July 20, but will have an exact date as we get closer. We want our berries to be the best for our customers.
As a reminder our hours when we are open are always 7am-11am as it gets too hot after that. If those hours don't work for you, we can always make other accommodations for picking. Sometimes we have to close the field for a few days to allow more berries to ripen.
We provide picking buckets and zip lock bags to take your berries home in.
We take only cash and/or local checks.
