🦎 The H**p Haus Species Spotlight Saturday: Iranian Leopard Gecko

The Iranian leopard gecko (Eublepharis angramainyu), also called the Iranian fat-tailed gecko, is a large, robust member of the leopard gecko family. This terrestrial species inhabits the rocky, semi-arid regions of Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Turkey.

Unlike the familiar common leopard gecko (E. macularius), Iranian leopard geckos are known for their impressive size, bold natural markings, and heavy build. Like other *Eublepharis*, they have movable eyelids—a feature most geckos lack!

🐍 The H**p Haus Species Spotlight Saturday: Corn Snake

Corn snakes (Pantherophis guttatus) are nonvenomous constrictors native to the southeastern United States. Their name likely comes from their historical presence around corncribs, where rodents provided an easy meal—and possibly from their checkered belly pattern, which resembles kernels of corn.

Known for their manageable size, calm temperament, and incredible variety of colors and patterns, corn snakes have long been favorites among reptile keepers. They’re also valuable natural pest control, helping manage rodent populations in the wild.

If you see us at the Shawnee H**ps Expo looking a little extra shiny, don’t worry—we’re not sweating… we’re just “misting” like a tropical gecko enclosure. 😅🦎

The geckos have air conditioning. We have determination… and hopefully someone nearby is selling cold drinks.
