💛A little extra support for Dolly’s healing journey! 🐴
Dolly is receiving PEMF therapy to support her comfort and healing from Dr. Powell.

✨ So, what exactly is PEMF?
PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy. It uses pulsed electromagnetic fields to deliver energy to tissues in the body. In equine care, it’s used as a complementary therapy to support circulation, comfort, and the body’s natural healing processes.

Every horse’s journey is different, and Dolly’s recovery is no exception. We’re committed to giving her the individualized care and support she needs as she continues along her journey🫶

🤍Cayenne Update 🐴

Sweet, greenbroke, and continuing to make great strides!

If you haven’t met Cayenne yet, she came to us in November 2024 after being seized by animal control. Her transformation continues to shine at H.O.P.E.

Cayenne has been making wonderful progress with Libba, our trainer, and we’re excited to see her continue to grow her confidence ✨

Now, we’re hoping to find her the right person 🏡

Cayenne would thrive with an experienced owner who understands anxious horses. She’s a reminder that progress doesn’t always happen overnight. Sometimes, the biggest breakthroughs come from simply giving a horse time, trust, and the understanding they need💗

This is Memphis 🤍 our 27-year-old Tennessee Walker who has been with us at the rescue since June 2025. His transformation has been incredible 🤩

After battling Ulcers, he has fully completed his treatment and is doing so well!👏🤍

And now?

What we have discovered is that Memphis is rideable, and he’s been working with our trainer, Libba, to build his skills and confidence under the saddle. Most recently, he is working on patience, and learning he doesn’t always have to run🐴

It’s Farrier Day at the rescue! 🐴🛠️

Keeping all of these hooves happy and healthy is an important part of caring for our herd❤️

🐴 Dolly’s Vet Update ❤️

Dolly had a pretty thorough visit with our veterinary team last week, and we finally have a little more insight into what may have happened to her front right leg.

X-rays were taken of the large growth around her joint. While there’s no way to know exactly what caused the original damage, the findings are consistent with a significant traumatic injury sometime in her past—possibly from a kick, fall, or similar accident. Dolly‘s body overproduced the calcium needed to mend the fractured bone, essentially fusing the joint together. This explains why she is unable to bend that leg.

Because we want to keep her as comfortable as possible, Dolly will receive pain medication before and around her farrier appointments, when the leg positioning can be difficult for her. As the weather gets colder, we are prepared to help manage her discomfort during the fall and winter months.

Dolly also received the second half of her vaccinations today and had some much-needed dental work. Her teeth told another story of a life that hasn’t always been easy. She has several fractured teeth, some missing teeth, and significant overgrowth. Her teeth were floated today, and she’ll need another dental visit in about six months to continue getting everything back into the best shape possible.

Despite everything her body tells us she has endured, Dolly continues to be such a sweet girl. ❤️ We may never know her entire story, but we can make sure the next chapter includes good veterinary care, proper nutrition, comfort, and plenty of love.

Montana came to H.O.P.E. Acres in 2022 with his longtime companion, Jed. Montana is mostly blind due to uveitis, and Jed has been his trusted companion and support donkey🥹 These two are considered sanctuary equines which means H.O.P.E provides them a forever home due to the care they need making it harder to be adopted out ✨
