Have you heard of Tech Appreciation Week? Here at Bolton Veterinary Hospital, we take this week to celebrate all of the employees who work to make a difference in the lives of the animals in our community and beyond. We feel so fortunate to work in a place where pet parents regularly share their thanks and appreciation. This is a week for the veterinarian and management teams to thank the incredibly dedicated staff of BVH.

The celebration theme this year is Peter Pan, and it's even more incredible than you can imagine. Dr. Zyra has a magical way of making everyone feel valued and appreciated, and her ingenious creativity transports the team every year to a new and whimsical place. Thank you so much Dr. Zyra!

UPDATE: Thanks to everyone’s generosity and sharing of this post, we have received HUNDREDS of blankets and towels today!! 🤩 We’re all set for now, but feel free to keep us in mind anytime you have old towels to pass along… we go through them quickly!

High in water and protein, moderate in fat, and low in carbs… Canned food is biologically more appropriate for cats than dry 👌🏼

MSN: Both wet and dry food are quality options for feeding your cat, says Dr. Bruce Kornreich, a board-certified veterinary cardiologist and director of the Cornell Feline Health Center at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. However, there may be cases where wet food is recommended in addition to, or in place of, dry food. Kornreich says wet food benefits cats who need more water, particularly older cats with kidney disease.

Today's the day!
After listening to feedback from our clients and our local veterinary community, we’re transitioning to a triage-based emergency model to better serve pets when they need us most. This change will take effect 8/31/2026.

Potential emergency patients will be evaluated and treated based on the urgency of their condition rather than by appointment time. This approach allows our medical team to prioritize the most critical patients first while ensuring your pet receives the timely medical attention their condition requires.

Please call ahead (860-646-6134) whenever possible. A quick phone call allows our team to assess your pet’s needs, prepare for your arrival, and ensure we have the appropriate resources ready to provide the best possible care.

This is an exciting step forward for Bolton Veterinary Hospital and the families we serve. Our goal is to provide a more effective emergency experience while continuing to deliver the compassionate, high-quality care you’ve come to expect. We look forward to being here for your pets when they need us most.

We will continue to offer same-day urgent care appointments for our Primary Care clients. As a reminder, Primary Care clients are those whose pets receive their annual wellness exams and vaccinations with our team.

If you think your pet is experiencing an emergency, call us at 860-646-6134 to relay signs and symptoms and you will be assisted by a BVH staff member in determining the best course of action for your loved one. We're here to help you give them the best care possible.
