is managed by dedicated volunteers, and provides a safe haven. hardemanadoptableanimals.org HAA (Hardeman Adoptable Animals) is a dedicated group of volunteers on a mission to rescue abandoned, stray, and unwanted dogs and cats in Hardeman County. Our process involves moving these animals to our shelter, where we conduct thorough evaluations and provide necessary veterinary care. In cases requiring additional attention, we ensure they are examined by a veterinarian. The dogs we take in come from various backgrounds – they could be strays, owner surrenders, or breeder throwaways. Our primary goal is to shield these dogs from a hard death from starvation, disease and/or injury and offer them a chance for a better life. Once at our shelter, they become part of our list of available, adoptable dogs. We take pride in finding suitable homes for our furry friends, either through direct adoptions or by collaborating with rescue groups that specialize in placing animals. It's important to note that, more often than not, we are unaware of the history of the dogs we rescue. Despite this, we are committed to giving them a second chance and ensuring their well-being. Here's a happy update on Rose. She was one of those dogs who reminded us that the shelter isn't always the best place to see a dog's true personality. Fear and stress kept her from relaxing, and everything felt overwhelming. But because one of our awesome volunteer families has taken the time to help her decompress and feel safe, Rose is finally showing everyone who she really is in a real home.
Today, Rose asks for pets. She rolls over for belly rubs. She happily sleeps on the bed with her foster family.
The dog you see in these videos was always there.
She just needed a chance to shine.
That's why foster homes matter. That's why we take the time to truly know our dogs before sending them out. And that's why every shelter dog deserves someone willing to see who they can become.

Paddington comes to us with a sad story. His mom was a volunteer that devoted lots of time at the shelter taking care of the dogs in need. Now, it is our turn to help her. Her health rapidly declined and she will not be able to return home to her fur babies. We need to find a great home for Paddington!

It has taken a few months for us to make him feel at home in the shelter and to understand that he can trust us. But…his day has come and he is ready for his next chapter. Contact us to meet this handsome guy.

At HAA, we practice what we preach. This week we're neutering:

We're committed to doing our part to reduce pet overpopulation at its source.
You can help by making sure your own pets are spayed and neutered, because we can’t fix this problem alone.
The dogs filling our kennels didn't appear by "accident." They came from someone choosing not to do one of the most basic responsibilities of pet ownership.

If your pets are spayed or neutered, tell us why you made that choice.
Was it to prevent unwanted litters? Improve their health? Reduce shelter overcrowding? Simply because it was the responsible thing to do?
Drop your reason in the comments. Sometimes hearing it from fellow pet owners is more powerful than hearing it from a shelter.
