Sometimes I take for granted how awesome my job is, and how fortunate I am to do what I love.

Today I am grateful for Berkley and his incredibly dedicated owner Chelsea! Berkley initially started in my Reactive Rover class and the poor guy couldn't settle at all. When we moved to private training, Berkley barely allowed me in his house. He didn't approach me, and I respected his distance. Imagine my surprise the first time he actually spotted me before a session, bounded his way over to say hi, and promptly stuck his entire muzzle in my treat bag 😂

This guy and his gal have worked so hard, and overcome SO much. I am very proud to say they were my students.

Congratulations, Berkley and Chelsea!!

Please enjoy 16 seconds of Berkley and his ball ❤️

When brought Berkley into class last summer, he wasn't having any of it. He wouldn't even take his ball!

Today we worked at the park under the shade of giant trees. Berkley was fine with people, my decoy dogs, AND some real (but unplanned!) dogs. He and his mom Chelsea have really been working diligently this summer and it's showing!

Hi people -

A gentle reminder if your dog is a scaredy-pup!

Now is the time to implement precautions for the 4th of July. Let's keep them safe - and at home ❤️

Many of you know Paul Kline, who was my apprentice for a year, then my employee for another year. He's been the assistant and then the lead trainer in our reactive dog classes. He was also Santa in our Reactive Dog Santa shoot in 2018! Paul has contributed so much to Alliance Dog Training, and many times I questioned which of us was the mentor and which was the pupil.

Paul Kline has been an apt pupil and an amazing employee for 2 years. His consistency and thirst for knowledge has made him a fantastic trainer. He's been a pleasure to work with, and has set the bar for any future apprentices very, VERY high.

I am simultaneously excited and sad to announce he has made the decision to move forward and open his own dog training business! He will continue working primarily with rescues but will be taking private clients periodically as well. We will still be collaborating and consulting with each other when we need another set of eyes.

Please join me in congratulating Paul and wishing him the best on his new adventure!

Thank you, Paul, for everything you've done for Alliance Dog Training, and for the community at large. Best of luck in your future endeavors!

Hey Treasure Valley friends, I am currently working with a Dane/Mastiff that has high anxiety and stranger danger (no bite history). He has progressed so much!! Last week we walked through The Village in Meridian and he did amazing. He needs some practice in strange indoor settings (he is not ready to tackle Lowe’s yet). Anyone have access to a warehouse or office building setting that we could do a session in when it is quiet with little to no foot traffic? (Video is Odin rockin it at the village).

“My dog isn’t aggressive.” “I don’t want people to think he is a bad dog”.

“Crating is mean, it’s jail.” “My dog doesn’t get into things so crate training isn’t needed”

The wildfires burning across the west is a perfect example of why I believe every dog should be muzzle and crate trained. With the mass evacuations, people and their pets are finding themselves crammed together in very stressful environments. Being comfortable in a muzzle and a crate removes some of that stress from both you and your dog. Be proactive and plan for the unexpected.
