Community events like the Barber Valley Block Party are such a good reminder that veterinary medicine is about more than appointments and exam rooms.

We love getting the chance to connect with neighbors, support other local businesses, spoil our dog neighbors, and spend time with the people who make this area feel like home.

Shout out to 2 Pawz Up Barkery, those pupcakes were every bit as delicious as they look! 😅🧁🐾

This year's event will be held on September 18, 2026, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Barber Valley Park.

We're already counting down the days. We hope to see you there. 💚

Opal came in for her third acupuncture appointment. Her long ears kept dipping into her Licki Mat, so her mom used a little hair clip to pull them back since she didn’t have a scrunchie.

She settled right in for her treatment and was very sleepy afterward. Her back continues to improve, and we’re so proud of her progress. 💚

We interrupt your scrolling for an important announcement:

Poppy. 🥹💚

At 8-weeks-old, this pug puppy stopped by to absolutely demolish our team's ability to remain calm.

Honestly, we’re not sure what’s bigger:
👀 the eyes
👂 the head tilts
💚 or the collective urge to carry her around in a scrub pocket

Welcome to the Habitat family, Poppy!

National Dog Day called... 💛
We sent the entire Golden department.

Three smiling faces, three wagging tails, and absolutely zero personal space when treats are involved.

Consider this your official reminder to do something your dog loves today. Take the extra walk. Hand over the good snacks. Give belly rubs. They deserve it. 🐕🐾🦴

Happy National Dog Day from some of the happiest faces we've seen all year! 💚

Taking care of animals is what brought most of us into veterinary medicine in the first place… including our own. 💚

Here’s Dr. Levendoski spending her lunch break giving laser therapy to her dog, Tala... who was clearly very committed to maximizing cuddle efficiency during treatment. 🥹

Veterinary medicine can be emotionally demanding, and we know firsthand how stressful it is when your own pet needs extra care. We’re grateful to work in a hospital where we’re able to support our team by caring for the animals they love at home, too.

When we asked our team why they love working at Habitat, this is what they said. 💚

Not polished corporate talking points.
Just honest answers from the people who live it every day.

Some responses made us laugh (“doctors trim nails” 😅). Some made us emotional. But together, they paint a pretty clear picture of the kind of hospital we've built.

A place where people feel supported, safe to learn, connected to purpose, and genuinely excited to work alongside each other.

And honestly? We think that matters. 🫶

At Habitat, we take teamwork very seriously.
We also take pens very seriously. 😅🖊️

A while back, one of our technicians sent out a missing persons report for her favorite Sharpie S-Gel after it mysteriously vanished from the treatment area.

The response from the team ranged from heartfelt concern to active investigation… while a few suspiciously proactive teammates worked hard to establish their innocence. 👀

Honestly, we love moments like this. Veterinary medicine is hard work, and having a team that can laugh together, support each other, and fully understand the emotional attachment to a really good pen makes the long days a little lighter. 💚

P.S. We are happy to report she and her pen were quickly reunited.

This is a California Condor egg at 54 days of incubation. 🥚

The radiograph was taken to help locate the chick’s skull and beak position before pipping, the process where a chick begins breaking out of the shell. The thin wire visible on the radiograph was used as a positioning marker to help orient the egg during imaging.

For critically endangered species, hatching isn’t always something conservation teams leave entirely to chance. Careful monitoring and imaging can help determine when intervention may be needed to give a chick the safest possible start.

Huge thanks to the team at The Peregrine Fund's World Center for Birds of Prey for the incredible work they do in California Condor recovery. We’re always grateful for the opportunity to support these amazing birds however we can. 💚

Throwback to one of our more unforgettable patients. 🦉

A while ago, we had the opportunity to work alongside the Animals In Distress Association & Ruth Melichar Bird Center to help care for this injured owl while she recovered. From careful exams to warm towel wraps and lots of quiet monitoring, Technician Katie and our team made sure this little lady stayed safe and comfortable every step of the way.

We absolutely adored her. 💚
We’re not entirely convinced the feeling was mutual. 😅

Still, we like to imagine she’s out there somewhere now… catching mice, living her best owl life, and occasionally remembering that very strange day the giant humans wrapped her in towels and kept offering unsolicited medical care. 🫶
