Pedigreed Black, White and Blue Russian Blues 😺

While our focus is on preserving traditional Russian Blues, we are proud to be one of two catteries capable of producing a Black Russian Blue in the US!

White and Black Russian Blues are recognized by TICA with the highest registration status, Stud Book Traditional (SBT). Their pedigrees are notated as: "Breed: Russian Blue" and "Color: White" or "Black". TICA is the registry under which we register all of our litters (along with GCCF, ACF, ACFA and others who also recognize them!). They come from established Russian Blue bloodlines and share the same body type, temperament, intelligence, and hypoallergenic qualities as traditional blue Russian Blues, they originate from an outcrossing somewhere between the late 60's and 1971.

The difference is purely coat color. A Russian blue is a black cat with a dilute (dd) gene. Genetically, white Russian Blues are simply Russian Blues that do not express the dilute black (blue) coat. Black Russian Blues on the other hand are Russian Blues that retain their black coat without being diluted to "blue". They are not mixed breeds, nor are they experimental pets. They are rarer, selectively bred, and held to the same structural and health standards as their blue counterparts. In every meaningful way except color, they are Russian Blues.
