Bee and wasp season is in full gear … which means curious noses + spicy sky raisins 🐝 and our fosters are definitely putting us through it the last couple week 🤦🏽‍♀️

If your dog gets stung, Benadryl can sometimes help with mild swelling or itching… but there are a few VERY important things to know first:

👉 Use ONLY plain tablets

* Regular tablets = safest option
* DO NOT use liquid Benadryl or gel caps
* Many liquid formulas contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs and can be deadly

👉 Correct dosing is important

* General guideline: 1 mg per 1 lb of body weight
* Example:
* 25 lb dog = 25 mg (1 tablet)
* 50 lb dog = 50 mg (2 tablets)
* Standard tablets are 25 mg each

👉 Watch your dog closely
Benadryl is for mild reactions only.

🚨 Get to a vet immediately if you see:

* Facial swelling (especially around eyes/muzzle)
* Trouble breathing
* Vomiting or collapse
* Multiple stings

👉 When in doubt, call your vet first

Not every dog should have Benadryl, especially if they have underlying health issues or are on other medications.

A sting might seem minor… until it isn’t. Having the right info on hand can make all the difference 🐾

Guaranteeing the right to utilize working animals without infrastructure or oversight does not protect working animals — it protects economic interests.

House Bill S1241aa guarantees:

“The right to utilize working animals… shall be guaranteed.”

It also states: No county, municipality, state agency, or political subdivision shall enact or enforce any ordinance, regulation, or rule more restrictive than state law.

Idaho ranks 48th out of 50 in animal welfare protections.

Idaho currently has no regulatory infrastructure establishing:

• Work-hour maximums
• Load limits
• Mandatory rest periods
• Operational veterinary oversight standards
• Defined inspection protocols
• A formal administrative process for investigating livestock welfare concerns

The Idaho Department of Agriculture has administrative rules for production agriculture — but not for livestock used outside of production contexts.

No operational standards.
No defined oversight framework.
No formal process for welfare investigations.
