This Staff Appreciation Week, we want to give a BIG shout-out to our amazing kennel technicians, Rika and Emma today! 🐶🐱💕

At Boca Village Animal Hospital, Rika and Emma play such an important role in caring for our furry family members. Whether your pets are boarding with us, coming in for a bath, or staying with us while receiving care, they make sure every pet receives the love, attention, and care they deserve. 🐾

From feeding them daily and taking them on walks to keeping their kennels clean and comfortable, these ladies go above and beyond to make sure our four-legged guests feel safe, happy, and loved. And when bath time rolls around, they make sure our pups leave looking fresh, feeling clean, and smelling absolutely beautiful! 🛁🧼✨

Their jobs are about so much more than feeding, walking, cleaning, and bathing. It's about patience, compassion, cuddles, and making sure every pet feels special while they're away from home. ❤️

Rika and Emma, thank you for everything you do! Your hard work, dedication, and love for our patients do not go unnoticed. We are so grateful to have you as part of our Boca Village Animal Hospital family! 🐾💜

🐾🩷 WHAT YOUR PET’S GUM COLOR CAN TELL YOU! 🩷🐾

Did you know that your pet’s gums can provide important clues about their health? Take a peek at your furry friend’s gums! 👀🐶🐱

🩷 Pink Gums: Generally healthy gums with good circulation!

⚪ Pale or White Gums: May indicate anemia, blood loss, or poor circulation.

🔵 Blue or Purple Gums: Can indicate a lack of oxygen and may be a life-threatening emergency!

🟡 Yellow Gums: May be a sign of jaundice or problems involving the liver or red blood cells.

🔴 Bright Red Gums: May indicate inflammation, overheating, or other serious health concerns.

🤎 Brown or Black Pigmentation: Can be normal in some pets, especially those with naturally dark-pigmented gums. Know what is normal for YOUR pet!

🚨 IMPORTANT: If your pet’s gums suddenly change color, especially if they are pale, white, blue, gray, or yellow, seek immediate veterinary care. Blue or gray gums, breathing difficulties, collapse, or severe weakness are emergencies. Don't wait for other symptoms to appear!

💡 Pet Parent Tip: Check your pet’s gums regularly so you know what is normal for them. Early recognition of changes can make a difference!

❤️ Your pet can’t tell you when something is wrong, but their body may be giving you clues!

Parvo Virus vs. Vaccine
Why vaccinate your puppy for Parvo? Parvo causes vomiting, diarrhea, severe dehydration, depleted white blood cells, sloughing of the intestinal wall, sepsis and possible death.
The vaccine, if administered properly, can protect your puppy against the virus. The symptoms of Parvo far outweigh the risk of reactions to the vaccine., which are tenderness, lethargy, anaphylactic shock, swelling and lumps. Parvo is spread through contact with infected f***s and can survive in its environment for more than a year. The only prevention against Parvo is vaccination.
