When Your Dog Notices Everyone Except You!

Sadie wasn't short on curiosity, but when another dog appeared, her attention could disappear in seconds! This one-year-old Pit Bull/Beagle mix joined us for our three-week board and train program to work on leash reactivity, recall, and general obedience.

Her personalized training focused on improving leash manners, responding to commands, and remaining composed around other dogs. Throughout the program, Sadie practiced managing distractions while developing a stronger foundation for more controlled and enjoyable walks.

Distracted On Walks? Our Board And Train Program Can Help!

Sadie had a habit of getting a little too interested in other animals, and keeping her attention during walks wasn't always easy! She also needed help with household manners, including learning that kitchen countertops were off-limits.

During our three-week board and train program, Sadie worked on leash obedience, impulse control, and remaining neutral around distractions. Exposure to different environments, people, and animals helped her develop greater confidence and more controlled responses in everyday situations.

What Happens Before A Dog Reacts?

A barking or lunging dog gets everyone’s attention.

But sometimes the most useful information appears several moments earlier.

Watch for changes such as freezing, staring, body tension, a closed mouth, leaning forward, or difficulty looking away from whatever has your dog’s attention.

A dog's body language should always be viewed in context, and one individual signal doesn’t automatically tell you exactly what they are feeling.

The bigger picture matters. Learning to notice changes earlier can help you understand your dog before their behavior becomes much more obvious.

Save this post so you can revisit these signals later.

The Sweetest Puppies Still Need Training!

Already a big boy with a marshmallow personality, Stanley had the gentle temperament his family loved, but they also understood the importance of starting obedience training early. They enrolled him in our puppy all-inclusive training program to build confidence, basic obedience, and everyday manners.

Stanley's eagerness to learn made him a pleasure to train, and he completed this first phase with a strong foundation his family can continue developing. We're excited to see how much this handsome boy grows before returning for the adult training phase!

Puppy Training Paid Off In A Big Way!

Romy already knew the rules before his latest training began, and that made all the difference! After graduating from our puppy training program a few months ago, he returned for a two-week e-collar training program to build on the obedience commands he already understood.

Rather than starting over, we introduced another way to communicate and reinforce familiar commands from greater distances. His strong puppy training foundation helped make the transition to advanced obedience smooth and successful.

From Jumping On Kids To Impressive Self-Control!

Could your dog resist a piece of chicken sitting right in front of them? Otis, a handsome Barbet, just proved how far his obedience has come! He returned to us for our two-week board and train program to address jumping on the kids and visitors, leash pulling, unreliable recall, and excitement around other dogs.

Through focused obedience training, he developed better impulse control, calmer greetings, reliable responses to commands, and improved leash manners. But the real showstopper came during his graduation handoff, when the family's girls placed food directly in front of him while he held his Place command, and he didn't budge!

A Calm Walk Can Be The Biggest Breakthrough!

At first glance, Bella's drive made her seem unstoppable, but underneath all that energy was a sweet Pit mix struggling with intense fear and anxiety. Our board and train program focused on building trust in unfamiliar situations and helping her feel more comfortable without needing constant activity.

Through patient confidence-building exercises, place work, and structured outlets for her energy, Bella learned to settle and respond more calmly to her surroundings. Today, her family is enjoying more relaxed leash walks and has clearer routines for helping her navigate everyday life.

Wednesday Winners ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Sometimes, a dog enters your life when your heart needs healing. But even with all the love in the world, the challenges can feel overwhelming.

After unexpectedly losing a beloved family dog, Rocky's family welcomed him into their home, hoping this sweet hound puppy would help heal their broken hearts.

But with four young children, two cats, and a busy household, things quickly became stressful.

Rocky was jumping on the kids, chasing the cats, pulling on walks, barking, and constantly testing boundaries. His family loved him, but they began wondering if they had made the right decision.

Then, a coworker recommended Ridgeside K9. They reached out for help.

Rocky completed our three-week board-and-train program, where his family received daily photos, videos, and detailed progress updates. And the results? Life-changing.

✔️ Walks became enjoyable instead of stressful
✔️ Rocky became calmer around the children and cats
✔️ He could relax and explore the house with supervision instead of spending so much time in his crate
✔️ His family gained the confidence and support to continue his training at home

His owners said it best:

"Giving Rocky the gift of training has been one of the best investments we've ever made, for him and for our family."

💚 This is why we do what we do.

This 5-star customer review reminds us that professional dog training isn't just about obedience. It's about building trust, improving communication, and helping families enjoy the dogs they love.

If you're feeling overwhelmed by your dog's behavior, don't give up on the relationship you're trying to build. Contact us today and discover how the right training can make everyday life better for you and your dog.
