New Places Started Feeling a Little Less Scary

Rosie came to us unsure of unfamiliar places and hesitant when new experiences pushed her beyond what felt comfortable. During our three-week board and train program, carefully managed exposure, encouragement, and consistent structure gave her opportunities to explore without feeling rushed.

As those successful experiences added up, Rosie became more willing to investigate new surroundings, engage with her handler, and spend time around new canine companions. Her growing confidence made adventures feel less intimidating and allowed more of her personality to come through.

When a Small Dog Starts Running the Household

Luna had become very good at getting her point across through jumping, persistent barking, and guarding her meals when something did not go her way. Her family needed a clearer communication system that would help this little dog understand what was expected of her during everyday life.

Through our board and train program, Luna worked on foundational obedience and consistent marker words that gave her immediate feedback about the choices she was making. As that communication became more predictable, she began showing better household manners and a stronger understanding of how to work with her family.

Alert Doesn’t Have to Mean Reactive

Before training, Phoenix often decided for herself whether obedience was optional, while unfamiliar people, noises, and activity around the home could quickly put this Cane Corso on high alert. Our board and train program focused on more reliable obedience, tone recall, handler responsiveness, and developing the confidence to observe unfamiliar situations without immediately confronting them.

Instead of raised hackles and unnecessary barking, Phoenix practiced staying alert while remaining composed and allowing her handler to guide what happened next. She also became more responsive when called inside, giving her family greater control during everyday routines.

Come Together for Heroes & Harvest

On September 11th, we will be joining the community at Newtown Commons for an event hosted by Northern Shenandoah Valley Community Veterans Engagement Board, dedicated to honoring veterans, active-duty service members, and military families.

From 4:00–8:00 PM, enjoy live music, food trucks, local vendors, family activities, and opportunities to connect with organizations serving our veteran community. Even better, the evening helps raise funds for local veterans and military families facing unexpected hardships.

Better Walks Started With Better Impulse Control

For this three-year-old Cairn Terrier, walks once meant barking, pulling, and getting worked up over nearly anything that crossed his path. During our three-week board-and-train program, Simba practiced leash communication, impulse control, handler engagement, and staying neutral in the presence of everyday distractions.

Structure and consistent expectations helped him understand that seeing something interesting did not mean he had to react to it. His family also learned how to carry those same expectations into daily walks and routines at home.

When Anxiety Makes Every Day Feel Overwhelming

Archie spent much of his day on high alert, and that constant stress showed up as nonstop barking, hard leash pulling, and fear in everyday situations. During our three-week board-and-train program, we focused on establishing predictable expectations, building confidence, leash manners, and helping him understand what to do when the environment felt uncertain.

With repetition and clear communication, Archie began to settle more easily, stay connected to his handler, and move through situations with less tension. He went home with a stronger foundation and a clearer routine that his owner can continue reinforcing in daily life.
