October is National Animal Safety & Protection Month, making it a great time to brush up on the knowledge and tools that can help us provide better care for companion animals.

Michigan Pet Alliance offers education, training, and practical resources designed to help animal welfare professionals, shelters, rescues, outreach groups and pet owners strengthen their knowledge and improve the lives of the animals in their care.

We have online training videos, workshops, and more! These resources are available to help you keep learning.

Ready to learn something new? Explore MPA’s Education & Training resources and find something that can help take your animal welfare knowledge to the next level: https://www.michiganpet.org/education-and-training/

There’s a lot more to animal welfare than what happens in front of the camera. Behind every animal receiving care is a space prepared to keep them safe, comfortable, and cared for. Kennels, supplies, and everyday essentials all play a part in keeping things running smoothly, and these details are an important part of the work.

It may not always be the most visible side of animal welfare, but it matters 💙

Here’s a little peek at one of the spaces where that work happens.

Every day, animal welfare professionals, shelters, rescues, and advocates are working to create better outcomes for companion animals.

Michigan Pet Alliance is here to help strengthen that work.

When you support MPA, you help create opportunities that strengthen the animal welfare community. And when the people caring for animals have the support and resources they need, the animals benefit too ❤️

Good training takes patience. Good cat training takes… maybe a few treats 😹

This little learner is getting some one-on-one attention from one of our MPA members, and it’s a great reminder that continued learning plays an important role in quality animal care.

🐾 : Adopt a Pet Shelter Plus!

Shelters have a lot on their plates, and these days, that can include helping families keep food in their pets’ bowls and supporting the people doing this important work.

Adopt a Pet Shelter Plus' expanded program gives eligible shelters more flexibility to put resources where they’re needed most, from pet food pantry support and conference opportunities to continuing education, veterinary resources and support for shelter staff and volunteers.

We’re proud to have Adopt a Pet Shelter Plus as an MPA member and to highlight the work they’re doing to help shelters support pets and the communities that love them.
