The fourth of July is around the corner and there will be lots of loud booms. Here we can see George's reaction to the sound of a sudden boom (fire cracker).

Tomahawk crossed the water obstacle with ease yesterday and even liked playing in it some. Hes always been a bit hesitant when it came to crossing or getting into water so this surprised me but it was a good surprise!

Plato was a good boy for being saddled without a halter. He had plenty of space to walk away but stood fairly still through most of the process. When I let him out he slowly left the barn at a walk, then quietly picked up a trot and headed back to the herd. This told me how comfortable he felt with the over all interaction. He was not in a hurry to leave and thats a good feeling.

Curious George went on another solo walk with me yesterday and rocked it. We went further away then we have before and still he never called to his buddies. The only thing he got unsure about was the loud machines and saw sounds when we went past my neighbors who have a tree removal company. We even went down the road and he was not bothered by the cars passing us. When we got back I unpacked him and we rode a few minutes ba****ck (I didnt want him to be in the habit that coming back in barn means hes done). He felt way less like a noodle under me and followed the reins aides pretty well. We are working on his back up as he initially wants to lift his head and brace a bit which is no good as it causes his back to hollow out so we are working on him first dropping his head slightly to the pressure then backing up. All and all I was so impressed with this guy yesterday! What a good Georgie boy!

A lot of people seemed to really like my homemade obstacle course I did with George. Some we have made over time like the new water obstacle, dirt hills, and logs. A lot of items I find at yard sales or the dollar store or like this bike, free on the side of the road. Training doesn't require everything be perfect or brand new. The wheel chair is one many people love that I acclimate horses to was also a yard sale find by my family who knew exactly what I would use it for. Be creative. One man's junk can be horse training treasure! Obviously sometimes tlc is required to make or keep things functional but thats all part of the fun. If you have a fun or favorite obstacle drop a pic or video in the comments and share ideas for more fun with our horses!

worked on the new water obstacle yesterday. I will say this one took him a lot longer to figure out then the rest. But once he got it he got it like the smart fella he is!

George is in his noodle phase of riding. Getting use to carrying weight and balancing with a rider takes time, practice, and building muscles. But he could care less about the flag. He is such a brave fella.
