She may share a name with the queen of gloom, but our Wednesday is all sunshine, sass, and just enough mischief to keep you laughing. Somehow this girl has been overlooked since October 2023… which honestly feels like a clerical error because she is a whole vibe.

🐶 Personality
Around here, Wednesday is lovingly known as the Shelter Bowling Ball 🎳 — low to the ground, full speed ahead, and absolutely rolling her way into hearts. She’s equal parts goofy and loving, with zoomies that come out of nowhere and a deep commitment to belly rubs. She’s smart, observant, and once she bonds with you, she is all in.

Wednesday would thrive in a home that balances structure with fun. She’s got energy to burn and love to give, so a fenced yard for her zoomie marathons would be a dream. She’ll do best with a person who appreciates her strength, her smarts, and her big personality.

For the ENTIRE month of June, the Blairsville branch of United Community Bank (right next to Ingles!) is hosting a fundraiser for Castoff Pet Rescue called:

Meet Louise 🐾

Louise and her sister Thelma came to Castoff from a backyard breeding situation where they simply weren’t getting the care they deserved. When we got the call, we jumped in to help and now these girls are safe, loved, and slowly discovering that the world is actually a pretty nice place.

Thelma and Louise are still coming out of their shells, but every day we see a little more sparkle. A tail wag here, a curious sniff there, and the occasional “maybe humans aren’t so bad after all” cuddle. With a little patience and a lot of love, these girls are going to absolutely bloom.

They are now fully vetted and ready for their forever homes. They can be adopted together or separately, though we suspect they’d both vote for homes that include soft beds, kind humans, and a steady supply of snacks.

Breed guesses? Your guess is as good as ours. The theories range from Corgi to Chihuahua to “mystery sprinkle of everything.” What we do know for certain is that they are 100% Certified Love Nuggets.

If you’ve got a little patience and a lot of heart, one of these sweet girls might just be your perfect match.

Ritchie is a slow burn kind of sweetheart 🔥. He can be a little shy at first, especially with men, but once you’re in his circle… you’re IN. His goofy, affectionate side comes out, and suddenly you’ve got a loyal best friend who hands out kisses like they’re his full-time job.

Kim has been a dedicated CPR volunteer and decided to take her love for our animals to the next level. With years of experience owning and operating a successful grooming business in Reno, she brings serious skills, a huge heart, and lots of compassion to our shelter and community.

Best part? A portion of every Bath and Brush appointment goes right back to Castoff Pet Rescue to help the animals in our care 💜🐾

We’ve got some tail-wagging good news coming from the IRS… and it means you can do even MORE good for pups like ours at Castoff Pet Rescue. 🐶💛

Starting in 2026, you may be able to deduct up to $1,000 in donations ($2,000 if married filing jointly) even if you don’t itemize your taxes. 🙌

Translation?
👉 More people can give
👉 More people can deduct
👉 More lives we can save

Here’s the quick and easy version of what to know:

🐾 Yes, your donations can help at tax time – but only if given to a qualified nonprofit (like us 😉)
🐾 Cash donations count (and you’ll want to keep a receipt or record)
🐾 If you get something in return (event tickets, merch, etc.), only the donation portion is deductible
🐾 Big donations ($250+) need a written acknowledgment (we’ve got you covered!)
🐾 Donating items? You may be able to deduct those too, based on value
