Meet Dahlia and her famous goofy ear! 🏔️🐾

🎂 Age: 5 years
⚖️ Weight: ~50 lbs
🐕 Breed: Mixed Breed / American Pit Bull Terrier
🚺 Gender: Female
📅 Intake Date: 02/21/2024
🏡 Adoption Fee: $300

About Dahlia
Fast legs. Soft heart. Big second-chance energy. Dahlia is a stunning, athletic girl with a signature goofy ear and a whole lot of potential just waiting for the right person to unlock it.

Personality
Dahlia is smart, driven, and deeply sensitive. She may be a little unsure at first, especially with men, but once she bonds, she bonds hard. She’s loyal, affectionate, and full of love for her person. She’s also very treat-motivated, which makes her a great student and a fun dog to work with.

Perfect Home
Dahlia is looking for a calm, experienced home with someone who understands working or high-energy breeds. Ideally, a one-person household where she can build trust, stick to a routine, and feel secure. A fenced yard and an outlet for her energy (think walks, training, or even a “job”) will help her thrive.

Behavior & Training Notes
Dahlia is not a beginner dog, but she is absolutely a worth-it dog. She would thrive with professional training and consistency. She’s eager, intelligent, and wants to succeed. With the right guidance, she will blossom into an incredibly devoted companion.

Health
Spayed and fully vaccinated.

Dahlia was left behind when her people moved away. Since then, shelter life has been tough on her. The stress is real, and she needs out of that environment and into a home where she can finally relax, learn, and feel safe again.

Why You’ll Love Dahlia
She’s the kind of dog who gives you her whole heart. The kind who will run beside you, learn with you, and stand by you once she knows she’s home for good. Dahlia isn’t for everyone, but for the right person, she’s everything.

💜 "I COULD NEVER FOSTER - I'D WANT TO KEEP THEM ALL!" 🐾

We hear this a lot, and it comes from a compassionate place. Getting attached is real, and goodbyes can be emotional. But temporary love matters deeply. 🏡💖

Some cats struggle with shelter noise and constant activity. A quiet foster home gives them space to decompress, build confidence, and show the personalities we may never see in a kennel. 🐱

Foster homes are vital lifelines:
🍼 Time for kittens to grow
🤰 A peaceful nursery for mamas like Pippie
🩺 Healing space after illness or surgery
🏡 Insight into personalities for perfect forever matches
💜 Every foster frees a shelter spot to save another cat

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST? ⏳
Fostering isn't open-ended. Stays typically run 2 to 5 weeks for bottle babies, 2 to 4 weeks for weaned and older kittens, 4 to 8 weeks for nursing moms and kittens, 2+ weeks for adults, and 3+ months for seniors.

"WHAT IF THEY HAVE TO RETURN?" 🐾
Returning after an agreed stay does NOT mean you failed them. Your photos, videos, and notes become their strongest adoption advocacy!

"BUT I WILL FALL IN LOVE!" 🥺
You might! You can shed a bittersweet tear and still feel immense pride watching them start a new life. Every goodbye makes room to save the next cat who needs you.

✨ SUCCESS STORIES: Fifi is purring and making biscuits with foster mom Gail, Lizzie and Abby are thriving, and Sable snoozes on foster mom Andrea's chest!

Rescued From a Mountain: Meet Tayto the Redbone Coonhound Pup! 🐾

Name: Tayto
Breed: Coonhound, Redbone/Mixed Breed
Color/Pattern: Red/Mahogany
Age: 10 months (Puppy)
S*x: Male
Rehoming Donation: $300

Personality:
Tayto is adventurous, energetic, and friendly, with a gentle and loyal heart that shines through in everything he does. He's playful and smart, always ready for the next adventure, whatever that may be.

Tayto's Story:
Tayto is one of Molly's puppies, born into a hoarding situation alongside his siblings Lottie, Dottie, Cricket, Pickles, and Ducky. Along the way, Tayto ended up dumped on Franklin Mountain with several of his littermates, but we were able to rescue him from that too. He's safe now, fully vetted, and getting loved up every single day, but like his family, he still has some rehabilitation ahead of him.

Why You'll Love Tayto:
He's a gorgeous Redbone Coonhound mix with a huge heart, he just needs some time with the CPR treatment before he's ready for his forever home. Watching Tayto learn what safety and comfort feel like for the first time is something truly special, and he's already blossoming more every day.
