🐾 SEPTEMBER IS ANIMAL PAIN AWARENESS MONTH 🐾
Pain doesn’t always look like crying, limping, or obvious distress.
Sometimes, pain looks like slowing down.
Skipping the stairs they used to fly up.
Taking longer to get comfortable.
Not wanting to play as much.
Becoming a little more withdrawn or irritable.
Needing more time to get up after resting.
And because these changes can happen gradually, it’s easy to chalk them up to “getting older.”
But aging is not a disease—and pain is not something our pets simply have to live with. ❤️
Pain management is a big part of what we do in Restorative Therapy. Depending on the individual patient and the source of their pain, treatment may include medications, therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation, laser therapy, acupuncture, regenerative therapies, and other multimodal approaches.
Our goal isn't simply to ask, “Is your pet in pain?”
It's to ask:
👉 What is your pet telling us through their movement and behavior?
👉 What is keeping them from doing the things they love?
👉 And what can we do to help?
If you've noticed your pet isn't quite moving, playing, resting, or acting like themselves, don't just assume it's age. Let's talk about it. Sometimes the little changes are the biggest clues. 🐶🐱
