Busy days on the farm! Tomato worms are here and we have to keep our eyes open for them but they make great treats for the chickens! Harvested about half of our potatoes and onions yesterday and they are now curing for storage. Finally got our first tomatoes, always exciting to finally slice those up up on a hot summer day. 😋

Chicken buns in the oven! Restocking our flock. Incubation time is 21 days and this is day five. The second photo shows how the vascular system is growing and is a sign of a healthy embryo! This neat little incubator keeps their temperature stable, humidity just right and gently turns the eggs every hour and a half. 🥚🐣🐥

Happy new year!
It’s been a couple years since we were at Lee’s Summit farmers market and while we miss seeing all of our farmer friends and visiting with our loyal customers every weekend, what we miss the most is talking about healthy food and helping people eat better.

So we are thrilled to announce the arrival of ! Adam has always been so passionate about helping others and has spent the last 15 years engulfing himself in nutrition and health and just recently finished his studies with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to become a Certified Integrative Health Coach.

It is so rewarding to help others feel better by eating more nutritious whole foods and less processed food. Sounds like a simple idea but our out of touch food system, tricky food labels and all the gimmicky fad diets have made it incredibly complicated and confusing. What one diet works for an individual may not work at all for others.

Creating a full circle of health not only includes the foods you eat but better sleep, reducing stress, more movement and enjoying more quality time with family and friends.

For those of you that know him, you are aware he’s not a big “social media guy” so don’t expect daily posts but he will drop random health tips and nutritional info once in a while.

If you’re ready to get healthier in 2023, having a health coach is one of the most beneficial ways to navigate the mountains of information out there and fine-tune it to fit YOUR specific needs.
He offers a FREE phone consultation to discuss your health concerns and program details. Please also share his information with a friend or family member that might benefit as well. There’s no better gift than a gift of health!

25 years ago I met my best friend.
16 years ago I married him.

He’s such a joy to be around and his laughter energizes a room and warms your soul.
He is an absolute goofball and is always trying to make someone laugh. We love being silly and try not to take little things too seriously.
He’s a rebel and a marshmallow and is always a sucker for a snuggle.
He is an amazing doggy daddy, one of his favorite past times is napping with Peanut and Butters.
He taught me how to grow a garden and eating healthy whole food. He loves spending time in the dirt and doing farm work.

After being a rebellious teenager and being a little hard on our bodies in our younger years he now thrives on health and wellness and being better to himself and showing others how to do the same.

He is also the most amazing caretaker, he cooks dinner, does laundry, cleans the house and he’s always asking how else he can help me. I just don’t know how I got so lucky to marry my soulmate and I cherish every day with him.
Happy anniversary bub.

Peanut is getting a little impatient for spring....but so are we! These last two weeks have been beautiful and we’re starting to get the itch to get outside and plant!
We are planting our garden this year but it will be a small home garden for us and our parents and we will not be back at the farmers market. We are both working full time jobs and the weekends are our time to rest, spend time with our families and grow our own food. We will miss being a part of it but hope everyone supports their local farmers and farmers markets as many of them are full-time farmers and that is their only income.
Speaking of jobs, my company is hiring and I will post about it shortly. We are growing and if you or someone you know is in need of employment this is a wonderful local family owned business to be a part of. See my next post for details.

We hope everyone is well and staying healthy! Eat your food medicine from your local farmers! 🥬🥒🍅🍑🥕🥦🍐🍉

Sorry it’s been a while since our last post. We have been busy picking away at projects and keeping up with house and farm chores.
We have also been tackling a difficult decision about when to return to the market and after a LOT of deliberation we have decided that we are no longer going to be participating in the Lee’ Summit Farmers market.
As for everyone, this year has been a year of change for us too. We have a renewed focus on our family and making our Farm more of a sustainable Homestead so that we can better provide for our families.
This season has also been hard on the garden and orchard. The hot dry weather has dried up all of our blackberries and mulberries and we did not get any peach, pears or apples on our trees due to late frost in the spring and windy storms while they were setting their blooms.
For the first time in almost 10 years we are actually doing a lot of our own food preservation and canning. We’ve been shocked over the years how little we fed ourselves out of our garden because we wanted to have as much available as possible at our market stand for our customers and any many cases still didn't have enough. While we always enjoyed being at the market and seeing our customers and talking with everyone about eating healthy we are also excited to spend more time at home and feeding ourselves and our families from our garden. We can not thank you all enough for all the years of love and support while we were at the Market, we will miss being there but will likely see you while we are there shopping from our farmer friends.
‼️‼️BUT........‼️‼️
We are planning for one more pre-order pick up for next Saturday, August 8th and we will post the details about that this coming Sunday with what items we will have available.
We urge you to support your local farmers It’s a great new location with lots of parking and more space for social distancing. These are old school farmers that are digging potatoes with their hands, manually picking bugs and pulling weeds, bruises from head to toe, dirt under their fingernails, outside when the sun rises till the sun sets and they do all for you.

Tomato plants are loaded but we’re only picking handfuls of ripe ones so far. Sorry, but we get first dibs!
We’ve been busy at our day jobs and picking away at farm projects in the evenings and weekends. We’ve been planting blueberries, raspberries, peaches, apricots, and nectarines as we expand our orchard.
It may still be another couple weeks before we’re back at the market but we hope you are still visiting all the other wonderful vendors. The is now officially a walk up market (with social distancing) at the Abundant life Baptist Church in Lee’s Summit. Please go support your local farmers and enjoy some fresh local food and nourish your bodies so everyone can stay well.
While we stay busy Peanut is keeping an eye on the rabbits and at the end of the day passes out after a long day of “work”.
