Kitten update (Aka Tortie)....

Tortie has spent the past week hanging in the feed building or just outside of it.

I guess she decided to go on an adventure sometime last night. She was not in the building mewing for breakfast this morning. After chores I looked for her. Not finding her, I feared the worst, and rode up to the highway to see if she was up there. Thank God she wasn't, but still no sign of her until tonight at supper.

Thank God she is ok. I do a head count of all my barn kitties every day, to make sure everyone is accounted for. Tortie will need to learn to come when she is called, like the others do.

Donkey farrier day!

On the trim list was Goober, Sally and Emmie.

Goober was sedated for his trim. Last year he decided that he did not want to participate in having his hooves trimmed. This is after 8 years of being good about it. No negative experiences, so still scratching my head over this one 🤔
We cannot allow him to decide these things, so sedation is the answer, until he realizes that having his hooves trimmed is NOT up for discussion.

Pedicure day for the piggies!

EVERYONE got their feet trimmed today! Wilbur and Max had their tusks trimmed. (Fun Fact: pig's tusks are made of ivory - bet you did not know that)

Max and Mugsley are new to being flipped to have their feet trimmed. The squealing folks heard in south Washington County was them, when they were flipped. Once they were on their backs, they started to calm down.

Wilbur and Wilma are old pros. While not fond of being flipped, they do not squeal anymore.

Maybelle is in heat, and can be a bit aggressive, but she actually turned out to be our model citizen for her trim!

It's the attack of the Cottonwood fuzzies!

The big Cottonwood tree near Goober's pen is throwing fuzzies eatly this year. They are landing on everybody in the back pens. They are sticking to their fur like a swiffer, lol.

Maybelle is a smart piggy!

She finds her dish for me when its time for her to eat. When I bring in her food, I tell her to go find her dish. She runs into her house and roots it out :-) 🐷

Out in the storm...

Our new gal, Mercedes, stood out in the thunderstorm and hail last night, when her shelter was just feet from her.

According to her previous owner, she has always done this, if given the choice.

I will be putting up a corral gate to close her in, when the weather is bad. At 29, she does not need to stand out in bad weather.

Here we go again....

This kitty showed up about 5 days ago in my feed building. He/she appears to be about 4 to 6 months old. Been "sharing" food with my barn cats, so I put out a bowl for it, to keep the peace.
