In Loving Memory of Dewey
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of one of our most treasured volunteers, Dewey, on June 3rd.
For nearly five years, Dewey was a faithful and dedicated dog walker at the Jeanette Hunt Animal Shelter. Several days a week, you could count on seeing him walking dogs, offering kind words, and making sure each animal received the love and attention they deserved. When he was no longer able to walk the dogs, Dewey still faithfully came to the shelter to sit with them, comfort them, and remind them that they were loved.
Dewey wasn’t just a volunteer—he was family. Alongside his beautiful wife, Wanda, they supported our shelter through countless events, fundraisers, and activities. His compassion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to animals touched the lives of so many dogs, volunteers, staff members, and community members.
The shelter, and our entire community, have lost an incredible man. The impact he made on the lives of our shelter animals can never truly be measured. Because of Dewey, countless dogs experienced kindness, companionship, and love during their time with us.
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to Dewey and Wanda for their years of dedication to our shelter and the animals we serve. His gentle spirit, warm smile, and love for dogs will never be forgotten.
Thank you, Dewey, for every walk, every belly rub, every treat, every kind word, and every moment you gave to our shelter dogs. You made a difference, and you will be incredibly missed.
