Adopt A Golden Birmingham We find warm, loving forever homes for Golden Retrievers and Golden Retriever mixes. Our dogs are housed in private foster homes.

We are a Golden Retriever Rescue Group managed and operated 100% by volunteers and we rely solely on donations to operate. We do not have a shelter building. We have monthly meet & greets to meet the dogs and you can set up meetings by appointment after you submit your application on our website. If you know of a dog in need of rescue, please email [email protected]. Edward, affectionately called Eddie, needs a foster or foster-to-adopt home! ❤️

This handsome red-coated Golden is 8 years and 1 month old, weighs 67 pounds, and has so much love to give. He adores children, loves cuddles, and will happily follow you from room to room just to be close to you. 🐾

Eddie’s ideal home:

💕 Good with kids
🐕 Must be the only pet—no other dogs or cats
🔒 Requires a securely fenced yard

Our handsome red mahogany 2-year-old Golden has a gentle soul and is learning to trust the world at his own pace. His foster is discovering that a little space, patience, and kindness help him feel brave enough to venture out of his bed. Sometimes, those quiet moments are where progress begins. ❤️

Stone is also doing well with his potty routine! His signal? Standing straight up and looking his foster squarely in the face. 😂 When you know, you know!

While Stone works on building confidence, he’s also recovering from some tough medical challenges. He has heartworms, coccidia, and ehrlichia, and recently spent a weekend at the emergency vet. Thankfully, he’s on the mend, and AGB is helping him get the care he needs.

🐾💛 Foster Update: Keelon 💛🐾

More energy, just as many snuggles! Keelon is gaining some pep while remaining the laid-back, easygoing sweetheart his foster family adores. He loves pets, cuddles, and being close to his people. 🥰

His foster shares that he is wonderful with children, cats, and dogs, and great on a leash! He occasionally gives their dog a warning bark when he wants space around his food or during snuggle time, but the two get along well overall.

We have some very sad news. AGB alums Jake and Carmen crossed the Rainbow Bridge last week. Together, as always. Carmen had dementia. But as long as Jake was near, he took care of her. When Jake suddenly developed a mass and lost 8 pounds in just a few week, the family made the heart-wrenching decision to let them cross the bridge together. When Jake and Carmen pair were adopted five years ago, they were 7 years old. Their family said they were the sweetest, fluffiest dogs they have ever had. They loved the entire family and their grandchildren, and they were loved right back. Their forever mom Anne is a longtime AGB volunteer and is very special to us. The family is filled with sorrow now, but thanked AGB for giving them these beautiful creatures to care for and love 🌈

AGB alum Atlas received a special blessing today in celebration of October 4—World Animal Day and the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.

World Animal Day reminds us to speak up for animals and help build a kinder world for them. The Blessing of the Animals honors St. Francis’s love for all creatures, offering prayers for our beloved companions and celebrating the joy they bring into our lives.

At Adopt A Golden Birmingham, that spirit of compassion inspires our work every day. Every dog deserves safety, kindness, and a family who treasures them.

From the side of the road to a home full of love, and FOUR kids to grow up with! 🐾

A Good Samaritan found this gorgeous Golden boy and cared for him for a couple of weeks. Although she couldn’t keep him, she knew he deserved a wonderful family. She turned to Adopt A Golden Birmingham, and together, we helped her wish come true!

His mom shares:

“When my husband and I got our first Golden shortly after getting married, I was a little skeptical. I had never had a big dog before, but he assured me they were the best! I was won over almost instantly and we loved that Golden until we lost him to cancer several years ago. When we felt ready to add another dog to our family, we reached out to Adopt A Golden Birmingham. It was a great experience! Communication was always clear and easy. I truly felt like they understood what we wanted in a dog and were eager to find the best fit for us and the dog. Atlas has been a wonderful addition to our family. My husband and I both agree that we didn’t realize how much we missed having a dog until we got him. Our four kids love snuggling, playing, and helping take care of him. We are so grateful to AGB for helping us find such a sweet boy!”

Now Atlas has loving parents, four snuggle buddies, and a beautiful new beginning. 🏡💛
