Meet Bramble, a 3-month-old Belgian Malinois/Great Pyrenees mix with an outgoing, energetic and adventurous personality. Bramble is ready for whatever comes next!

Breed results for Bramble’s brother showed that these pups are a mix of 14 different breeds. The top breeds are 27% Belgian Malinois and 27% Great Pyrenees, followed by 9% German Shepherd, 8% Siberian Husky and 7% American Staffordshire Terrier. His predicted adult weight could be anywhere from 68 to 95 pounds, according to the test.

Not surprisingly, Bramble is very smart. He’s crate trained and almost fully potty trained at 3 months old. He uses a doggy door at his foster home. He’s highly food motivated and very trainable.

Bramble and his three siblings had mange when they were found and ended up on the euthanasia list at a rural shelter before they were pulled into rescue. But it’s hard to tell Bramble went through any hard times because he is highly friendly and social. He’s a go-getter who loves to do anything and everything. He loves to explore, and we think he would make a great hiking or walking partner. He will need a family with an active lifestyle.

In his foster home, Bramble loves playing with the other dogs and is always in search of a toy. He’s going through his chewy phase so he will need lots of chew toys in his forever home. But it’s not always go go go. When Bramble tires himself out, he takes nice long naps in his crate.

💔🐾 Meet Meshach 🐾💔

Estimated age: ~3 years

Meshach has spent his entire life in rescue and somehow, not a single application.
Not one person has chosen him and we don’t get it.

Because Meshach is everything people say they want:

He loves chasing a ball, riding in the car, popping bubbles (yes, really 😄), and being part of whatever you’re doing. If you’re moving, he’s moving. If you’re laughing, he’s right there with you.

🐾 Meet Link! 🐾

Link is an adorable American Pit Bull Terrier puppy born at the end of June, and he’s ready to find a family to call his own! ❤️

This little guy is crate trained and working hard on his house training. He gets along well with both dogs and cats, making him a great addition to a home with furry friends.

Link is still very much in his puppy stage and loves to grab onto shirts, ankles, and anything else he can reach! 😂 He’ll need a patient family committed to helping him learn appropriate play and good manners. Because of his puppy antics a home with older children would be the best fit.

With consistency, guidance, and lots of love, Link has so much potential to grow into a wonderful companion. Could this sweet boy be the missing piece in your family? 💙🐶

Beautiful Torah.

Everyone who meets Torah loves her gentle spirit. We know there is some German shepherd in her, and some type of hound dog, but there is some type of water-loving breed in there because this girl loves water. She loves to play in the water bowl and dunk her head in it, and she loves a pond or a romp in the pool. Even more importantly, she has the sweetest soul. She looks at you with eyes of love and searching, because she wants to love you and be loved. She wants to be where her people are, but she’s good with other dogs regardless of size or energy level.
Torah was born around Christmas 2025 and has been in foster since she was a puppy. She quickly house trained, though she loves to get up with the sun for a potty break. But she will gladly come back in and resume her spot on the bed snuggled next to you, sometimes with her head on you. Torah is crate trained, but she barks when crated, so be aware of that if you’re in an apartment or have close neighbors.
Torah is fully vetted including spay, shots, and heartworm prevention.

Meet Meri, a one-year-old terrier mix who zooms through life with great joy and impressive speed despite only having three legs.

Meri broke her front leg at just four months old and had to have it amputated. But Meri is determined and resilient — she lets nothing stop her.

Meri is as fast, if not faster, than all of her doggy friends. Her foster mom often refers to her as a torpedo. She goes up and down stairs effortlessly. Her favorite hobby is playing fetch, and she is insanely good at it. She brings the ball or frisbee back every single time.

Bring out the hose and Meri is ready to be hosed down. She hops on her two back legs and tries to catch all the water in her mouth.

Meri plays hard during the day and then puts herself to bed by going in her crate around 6 p.m. every night. Meri is crate trained and fully potty trained. She’s about 45 lbs and almost fully grown.

Meri’s ideal home would have at least one other dog. Meri has absolutely adored other dogs since she was a tiny puppy.

Meri is the typical overly affectionate pit bull. She loves cuddling and kissing other dogs and her humans. Meri’s one flaw is she can be skeptical of humans she doesn’t know. It usually involves barking. But once she gets to know visitors on her terms, she becomes loving and affectionate towards them too. It just takes some time and patience.

She is truly special, but not special needs. She can do all the things any other four-legged dog could do, and her setbacks have never once dampened her joyful spirit.

🐾 TRAINER TIP TUESDAY 🐾
Your Dog Isn't Giving You a Hard Time. They May Be Having a Hard Time.

“He's being stubborn.”
“She knows better.”
“He's acting out.”
“She growled at me for no reason.”

We hear versions of these all the time. But here's something we wish more dog owners understood: Behavior is information. Your dog can't tell you, “I'm overwhelmed,” “I'm scared,” “this hurts,” or “I don't understand what you're asking me to do.”

So they show you.
🐾 Suddenly refusing the crate? Something may have frightened them or made the crate uncomfortable.
🐾 Destroying everything when you leave? That may be boredom, unmet enrichment needs, or anxiety, not revenge.
🐾 Ignoring commands somewhere busy? Your dog may be too overwhelmed to focus. A dog who can “sit” perfectly in your kitchen may genuinely struggle to do it at a crowded brewery.
🐾 Growling? LISTEN. A growl is a warning: I'm uncomfortable. Please stop. Punishing the growl doesn't necessarily make the dog more comfortable—it can teach them to stop warning you.
🐾 Sudden personality or behavior change? Especially in an older dog, your first call may need to be your veterinarian. Pain and illness can absolutely change behavior.

This doesn't mean unwanted behavior should simply be ignored. It means you have a much better chance of changing behavior when you understand what's causing it.

Instead of immediately asking:
“How do I make my dog stop doing this?”

Try asking:
“Why is my dog doing this?”

Then you can address the actual problem, not just the symptom. Pay attention to what happened before the behavior. Watch their body language. Consider whether their physical and mental needs are being met. Rule out pain when appropriate. And if you're struggling, bring in a qualified trainer before a manageable problem becomes a serious one.

Your dog is communicating with you all day long. Learning to listen is part of loving them. ❤️🐾

Meet Tiger Lily! 🥰
While driving to a vet visit for another pup, Lily, also lovingly known as Baby Girl, was found foraging for food on the side of a rural highway with no houses around. She was understandably hesitant to approach, but some food did the trick!
She is now one of the most loving, cuddly brindle lap dogs. Lily loves to run around in the back yard, and is a good alert dog, and she will lean on you for a head scratch, or sit by you on the steps for pets.
Most importantly, Lily LOVES to snuggle and sleep on the bed. She has no concept of personal space, for either people or other dogs. She loves to lick other dogs in the face, so if you have a dog already, be sure they are patient, and love to snuggle with other dogs! Lily also likes to chase balls and sticks, and is house and crate trained.
She's fully vetted and ready for her forever home!

🚨 **TWO SHELTERS. FOUR ASKS. ELEVEN LIVES HANGING IN THE BALANCE.** 🐾

Two shelters have reached out asking us to help dogs who are running out of options. We desperately want to say YES, but without foster homes, our hands are tied.

🐾 **LOAF — 14 months | 50 lbs**
A BIG, WRINKLY BABY! This Shar Pei is sweet, dog friendly, and ridiculously photogenic. He's also a hyper, mouthy teenager who needs someone willing to work on his manners. He knows how to sit and takes corrections well!

🤍 **WILLIE — 2 years| 60 lbs**
Willie is SUPER dog friendly, incredibly tolerant, leash trained, and heartworm negative! He's hearing impaired (though not believed to be fully deaf), and while he occasionally gets the zoomies, he's generally a calm, lovely boy.

People keep looking at Willie, but nobody commits. **How many times does this good boy have to be passed over?**

🐶 **EIGHT SCARED PUPPIES**
Eight older puppies. Eight little lives already let down by the people who should have protected them. They're scared, they're mixed breeds of who-knows-what, and they need patient homes where they can learn that people can be kind.

💔 **TILLIE - 4 ish y/o | PITIFUL **
This 42-lb girl has clearly been through more than we can imagine. She's missing an eye and part of her lip from what appears to be an old, healed injury. Despite everything, she's sweet, did well meeting other dogs, and just wants a quiet place to decompress and a lap to rest her head.** 🥺

🏡 **GREATER BIRMINGHAM:** We desperately need fosters willing to open their homes.
