“My mission is to help other parents who have taken time off realize that the spark that is your love of veterinary medicine never goes away, even if you've thought it has.

I LOVE that Mission welcomed me back to this profession with open arms after taking eight years off to be a stay-at-home mom for my son with special needs. I have been mentored by the lovely Dr. Joy Waldrop, who has taken me under her wing and helped me regain my footing in this ever-changing field. I'm a better mom after a long day at work achieving my goals, and my boys are proud of their mama and love hearing stories about my day.

I honestly can say I've never been happier. I remember my personal statement for applications for veterinary school said I wanted to be a wife, a mom, and a veterinarian — and I have achieved all three. I wouldn't have achieved this if it weren't for Mission.” 🐾

Meet Disco who was brought in to see Dr. Luke Rivas and his team at Livewell Animal Hospital of Austin.

When Disco’s owner noticed something wasn’t right, things moved fast. Same-day ultrasound imaging was secured with Sonovet, which revealed a linear foreign body.

The team shuffled the day's schedule and got Disco into surgery, performing a gastrotomy and two enterotomies to remove a sock — all while keeping a full slate of afternoon appointments running.

Disco is now on the road to recovery with a local emergency partner for continued monitoring and care. ❤️

“Moments like this highlight the true impact of the Mission network — creating access to affordable care while maintaining the highest standard of medicine.” - Dr. Rivas

Thank you to Dr. Rivas and every teammate and community partner that came together to make a difference for Disco!

“When I stepped into veterinary medicine, I started in the kennel and worked my way through the hospital obtaining my CVT and CVPM through my journey. I love nothing more than helping others see the potential and skill they bring to the table. My proudest achievements, outside of the patients that I have helped over the years, are the teams that I have supported and the colleagues that I have seen accomplish their goals.

Now, as a Home Office teammate at Mission, my mission is to help our hospital teams access high-quality laboratory diagnostics so they can deliver the best possible medicine for the pets and parents we proudly serve. We support each other, grow together, and learn together while working toward the same goal: empowering exceptional veterinary care and becoming the greatest veterinary company we can be. Don't miss out on the best opportunity of your career!”

Meet Ginny, an 8-year-old Golden Retriever who visited one of our hospitals in Louisville for a routine yearly exam. Her owner had zero concerns. Ginny seemed perfectly healthy.

But that's exactly why early detection bloodwork matters.

During her wellness visit, the team ran early detection bloodwork and discovered her globulin levels were extremely elevated. Further testing revealed monoclonal gammopathy, suggestive of multiple myeloma; a serious cancer that hadn't yet shown any outward signs.

Ginny was referred to a local specialist, where splenic aspirates confirmed excessive plasma cells, further supporting the diagnosis. She was started on treatment right away, before clinical signs ever had a chance to progress.

One month later? Ginny's owner says she's doing great throughout her treatment and has "perked up a lot." In fact, the family realized they hadn't even noticed Ginny had become more lethargic until treatment brought her energy back.

Her owner's words say it all: "I'm team early detection bloodwork from now on!"

Ginny's story is a powerful reminder that our pets can't tell us when something feels off, and some diseases hide in plain sight. Early detection bloodwork can catch what a physical exam alone cannot, and early detection can make all the difference. Huge WAG shoutouts to every teammate whose collaborative and proactive care helped change sweet Ginny's life! 🐾

“Throughout my journey in vet med, one constant has always existed: the unwavering commitment to professional support and development offered by Mission Pet Health. Veterinary medicine is powered by inspiring women, and my journey within the company has been defined by the phenomenal women who supported me every step of the way. From Dr. Jane White, who first connected me to this community as a student, to mentors like Dr. Ashley McKamey and partners like Tabitha Hayes and Courtney Cobb, I have been surrounded by leaders who balance entrepreneurship, parenthood, and clinical excellence.

My path from a student extern to the founding DVM of Livewell Animal Hospital of Kirkland is a testament to what happens when dedication meets a supportive culture. At Livewell, my manager Jamie and I live our WAG values—Work together, Amaze, Grow—by prioritizing mentorship. We’re proud to stand behind those values and help shape the next generation of women in vet med!”
