"My mentor experience has been wonderful throughout my first year as a veterinarian. I feel as if I can take on the harder cases knowing my mentor, Dr. Sweeney, will be there to support me. I am now 8 months into practice, and I feel confident in taking cases by myself and making my own treatment plans. There have been some instances where I do not know where to go, and I know I can lean on her. Dr. Sweeney is always willing to look at something with me, review lab work, and offer suggestions. I feel very supported by her!" - Lauren, 2025 DVM Grad & Mentee

“My mission is to share my experience and knowledge with other practice managers and teammates, helping to grow strong leaders and build high-performing teams.

After 22 years in veterinary medicine, much of it in larger corporate environments where it was easy to feel like just a number, I am energized to be somewhere that truly values people and leadership. I feel incredibly grateful for the path that has led me here and for the opportunity to be part of such a supportive organization.

What I love most about my role at Mission Pet Health is the people. I am surrounded by such passionate, driven, and compassionate individuals who truly care about the work we do and the lives we impact. There is a shared sense of purpose here that is hard to find, and it pushes me to be better every day.

What sets Mission apart is that the care for its people is real — it's consistently demonstrated through actions, support, and investment in teams. It's an environment that challenges you in the best way while also recognizing and celebrating your contributions.

Mission is a place where you can truly grow, feel supported, and be part of something meaningful. If you are passionate about veterinary medicine and want to work alongside people who genuinely care about each other and their patients, this is the place for you.” - Stephanie, Hospital Manager 🐾

“My mission is to help other parents who have taken time off realize that the spark that is your love of veterinary medicine never goes away, even if you've thought it has.

I LOVE that Mission welcomed me back to this profession with open arms after taking eight years off to be a stay-at-home mom for my son with special needs. I have been mentored by the lovely Dr. Joy Waldrop, who has taken me under her wing and helped me regain my footing in this ever-changing field. I'm a better mom after a long day at work achieving my goals, and my boys are proud of their mama and love hearing stories about my day.

I honestly can say I've never been happier. I remember my personal statement for applications for veterinary school said I wanted to be a wife, a mom, and a veterinarian — and I have achieved all three. I wouldn't have achieved this if it weren't for Mission.” 🐾

Meet Disco who was brought in to see Dr. Luke Rivas and his team at Livewell Animal Hospital of Austin.

When Disco’s owner noticed something wasn’t right, things moved fast. Same-day ultrasound imaging was secured with Sonovet, which revealed a linear foreign body.

The team shuffled the day's schedule and got Disco into surgery, performing a gastrotomy and two enterotomies to remove a sock — all while keeping a full slate of afternoon appointments running.

Disco is now on the road to recovery with a local emergency partner for continued monitoring and care. ❤️

“Moments like this highlight the true impact of the Mission network — creating access to affordable care while maintaining the highest standard of medicine.” - Dr. Rivas

Thank you to Dr. Rivas and every teammate and community partner that came together to make a difference for Disco!
