The Birmingham Zoo is home is a variety of animals, including lions, zebras, giraffes, sea lions, orangutans, a jaguar, African elephants, and endangered species from six continents! The Birmingham Zoo is a non-profit and is open daily from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, except during special, seasonal, and extended hours. Regular admission is $18.

95* for adults, $15.95* for senior citizens, military, first responders, and college students, and $13.95* for children ages 2-12 (*Price not including tax). The Birmingham Zoo is the only AZA-accredited Zoo in the state of Alabama.

Happy World Parrot Day! 🦜🌺

The Birmingham Zoo is home to four species of lorikeets: Rainbow, Coconut, Marigold, and Scarlet-breasted Lorikeets! Guests can spot all four species in our aviary, including the Scarlet-breasted Lorikeet, an IUCN endangered species for which the Birmingham Zoo has the most successful breeding program in North America. 🌎

These colorful parrots are highly intelligent and require lots of activities to keep their brains stimulated. They are primarily nectar-eaters, getting nectar and pollen from fresh flowers in the wild. This also makes them key pollinators in their native ecosystems throughout Australasia! 💡🌸

🌧️ Rain or shine, the brews are flowing! Due to possible weather, the event will take place in the Children’s Zoo area today, May 29 from 6–9 PM.

Sip your way through tastings from over 25 breweries across Alabama and the Southeast while enjoying lawn games, local food vendors, ambassador animal encounters, and access to Dino Safari’s 23 life-size dinosaurs.

🏈 Select Birmingham Stallions players will also be stopping by from 6–7 PM for meet-and-greets and autographs!
