This is an incredibly difficult post for our family to make, but we truly believe finding Bowen the right home is what’s best for him and his happiness.
Bowen is a 5-year-old purebred Golden Retriever who is incredibly loving, cuddly, and easygoing. He loves people, going on walks, and especially chasing a ball or frisbee in the yard. He’s perfectly happy spending most of the day napping inside as long as he gets some playtime and plenty of love and attention.
Our family recently welcomed our second child, and we are also navigating some medical needs with her that have stretched our capacity. We’ve realized that we aren’t currently able to give Bowen the attention, playtime, and companionship he deserves.
Bowen has always been an anxious dog and feels most comfortable when he is close to his people. He has generally done very well with other dogs and older children. However, since our oldest entered the toddler stage, we’ve noticed that Bowen has become increasingly uneasy and anxious around toddlers—particularly when they are loud, unpredictable, or frequently in his space. He has never had an issue with older, calmer children and has always been very loving with people. Because of this, we feel strongly that his ideal home would be one with children who are old enough to understand how to respectfully interact with a dog.
