Would you like to help Avanti and Amur Leopards like her? ❤️

With only around 300 left in the entire world, the conservation work we do cannot be understated. These beautiful cats are on the verge of extinction, but we remain hopeful that their populations can rebound, just like so many species have done already! However, we can't do it without your support.

There are so many ways to help the Ross Park Zoo and our conservation mission: donations, fundraisers, sponsorship, animal adoption, even donating your old vehicle! Every dollar goes directly to the care and welfare of our animals, like Avanti. Please consider giving so we can continue to provide a home and future for magnificent species - like the Amur Leopard - that are running out of options.

Check out our website for ways to give! https://www.rossparkzoo.org/ways-to-give

Did you know there are only about 100 Amur Leopards left in the wild? 🐆

These critically endangered cats have been the victims of poaching, deforestation, and human encroachment. With so few left in the wild, inbreeding and low genetic diversity is also a real danger. This species is on the verge of extinction!

That is why our care of Avanti is so important. She is one of only about 200 Amur Leopards protected by zoos worldwide, and her importance is manyfold. She is an ambassador for her kind, raising awareness and educating Binghamton residents about the plight of her species. She is a protected individual, free from the danger of poachers or development projects. And she is a vital resource to the Amur Leopard SSP! Our work is essential to the survival of beautiful animals like Avanti, and we thank you for your support!

A gigantic thank you to -Engineers for helping us finish our Cinereous Vulture bridge demolition! 🦅

Our Day of Caring volunteers did amazing work, and the fine engineers at Delta finished the job! The dilapidated bridge has been removed, and the keepers will now have easier access to our Cinereous Vultures. Take a look the next time you visit and see if you can spot the difference!

A cat is still a cat, no matter the size! 🐱

Enrichment opportunities can be challenging for an animal as big as Avanti. Most animals are neophobic - meaning unfamiliar sights or sounds give them pause. Once they get used to new items, however, our animals have a blast with them! Food provides a wonderful incentive, and figuring out to attain the meat treat is great mental stimulation for Avanti. Although she is in her new habitat, she still gets plenty of enrichment! Come to the Zoo and see our Amur Leopard!
