Want to make a big difference in a shelter dogโ€™s life??

Meet Rafael, a 5-year-old, neutered boy who is up to date on vaccines and very clearly has a soft spot for kids...

As you can see, he absolutely loved his special day out!

If you canโ€™t adopt, foster, or donate right now, you can still make a meaningful difference through our Day Out Program. Giving a shelter dog just an hour or two away from the shelter gives them a much-needed break, a sense of peace, and a chance to simply enjoy being a dog.

Yesteraday, Rafael enjoyed a car ride, a long walk on this beautiful fall day, and even a spa treatment with Raina Maxey and fam!

Spending time with him gave them the opportunity to get to know his wonderful personality even better โ€” and to capture some great photos to help him find the loving home he deserves.

Volunteering even a little bit of your time truly can make a world of difference for dogs like this handsome man.

Rafael seems to do well with other dogs, but a meet and greet with any potential canine siblings is required.
Now all thatโ€™s left is to help us find this sweet boy a home. ๐Ÿงก

Applications are available on our website:

Please share and help us find Rafael the happy ending he deserves. ๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿ’” MISTY NEEDS A HOME IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS ๐Ÿ’”

In less than two weeks, Misty will lose the home she knows. Her owner loves her, but has to move where she can't bring her dog. Now this sweet girlโ€™s future is uncertain, and we are hoping our Facebook friends can help.

Misty is a 3-year-old, medium-sized Hound/Yellow Lab mix. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccines.

Misty has had very little socialization throughout her young life, and weโ€™re told she was abused by a previous owner. She is a very sweet girl, but meeting unfamiliar people makes her nervous. She needs someone patient and gentle who will give her time to feel comfortable and secure.

She deserves the chance to feel safe, loved, and understood. โค๏ธ

Here is the kind of home we are hoping to find for Misty:

๐Ÿพ A home where she can be the only pet. Misty becomes jealous of other dogs and would do best with a family whose attention she doesnโ€™t have to share with other animals.

๐Ÿพ Someone who is home often. She appears to struggle with separation anxiety and would benefit from having her person around much of the day.

๐Ÿพ Patient, understanding people who will let her settle in at her own pace.

And one especially sweet thing about Misty: weโ€™re told she loves children! ๐Ÿ’›

At True Friends, our space is limited, and a shelter transition could be especially overwhelming for a dog who already finds unfamiliar people and situations frightening. We are hoping to help Misty move directly from her current home into another loving home before her owner has to leave.

We have less than two weeks to help change her future.

If you can offer Misty the loving home she needs, please call Dory @ #570-396-6011.

If you cannot adopt, please share her story and tag someone who might be a good match. Your share could reach the person who has room in their home and heart for her.

Please, Facebook friendsโ€”work your magic. Help us give Misty a chance at the bright future she deserves. ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ

๐Ÿพ LOCAL CAT RESCUE WARRIORS NEED OUR HELP! ๐Ÿพ

We would like to take a moment to recognize the incredible volunteers in our community who tirelessly step up for the overwhelming number of stray and feral cats in our area. The need is constant, the work is exhausting, and so much of what they do happens quietly, behind the scenes.

They give their time, their hearts, and often their own money. They are true warriors, and they deserve our gratitude and support. ๐Ÿ’™

Our friend Deb Mendelson is one of those people. On her own time and her own dime, she is working to help cats who are suffering while getting them spayed and neutered to prevent more kittens from being born into the same struggle.

As an adoption center with limited space and resources, we wish we could do more to support Deb and the many others doing this important work. It is our goal to offer more help in the near future. Right now, we can help by spreading the word and connecting these cats with safe barn homes.

โ„๏ธ BARN CAT HOMES NEEDED โ€” WINTER IS COMING FAST! โ„๏ธ

Deb is looking for barn or farm homes for semi-friendly cats and is working to have them spayed/neutered and vaccinated. There is no adoption feeโ€”just a need for caring people who can provide regular food, fresh water, protected shelter, and ongoing care.

The cats do not have to be rehomed together, but having companions can help them settle into their new surroundings. If you have room for two or three, please consider welcoming a small group.

๐Ÿ“ž Interested? Please contact Deb Mendelson at 570-947-1546.

Please share this post. You may know someone with a barn and a little room in their heart who can give these cats a safer future before winter arrives.

To Deb and every volunteer out there working so hard for these animals: we see you, we appreciate you, and we thank you. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™

We will be periodically featuring more of these individuals and small groups. If you would like to be posted on our page, please email: [email protected] or call/ text #570-396-6011. Kate's Safe Haven & Animal Rescue , you are next!!
