Why does your dog hesitate when it rains?

It might not be because they hate getting wet.

Rain can amplify sounds, and dogs have incredibly sensitive hearing. The extra noise can actually feel overwhelming to some dogs.

So next time your dog stops at the door in the rain… they may not be being stubborn. They may simply be listening.

In class you have probably heard me say how much I love a Stop ( hold standing position) and how I use it a lot more on walks than a sit.
Here is an example of Me and Murphy on a walk and how I use my Stop cue.

Notes:
There were two cars coming so I did support his Stop with a Stay cue.
And yes, we are within city limits and yes there is a leash law except for dog trainers, who are allowed to walk their dogs off leash as long as the dog is under control within 6 ft. For the sake of the video, I did allow Murphy to run further than 6 ft in front of me! 😉

A small insight into a dog trainer’s day:
Pants smeared with pure Rottweiler saliva , and a client where I have to guide and instruct from outside the fence so his dog could be successful. Change the emotion and the behavior will change as well. And I can joyfully say, that both dogs showed great progress 🙌 😁

Reminder: no puppy play tomorrow Sunday, August 2nd. Instead puppy play groups will be on Monday, August 3rd starting at:
6 pm for the 10-16 week old medium/large breed puppies.
6:30 pm for 16 weeks and older medium/large breed puppies.
7 pm for all small/mini/toy puppies.

It’s $5 for 30 minutes of supervised play, and play referee Murphy will be there to take care of the rowdy ones 😄😄

It was only Nyx for the 9:30 am puppy play group, so Murphy had to step in to “entertain” her…. From the looks of it, they both seemed to enjoy this playtime together 😁
