UPDATE: Couldn't be happier that our little fur ball is with his new family tonight. Yes, I miss him, but I couldn't have hand-picked a more perfect family - AND we'll still get to watch him grow up. 🥰

UPDATE: This bundle of fun is 7 weeks old and still needs a home. Make Mark an offer! 😊 Soon! I'm starting to get attached. He goes where the big dogs go (running, errands, chores), is starting to get the idea of potty-training, accepts (mostly) the kennel. I added some updated pictures.

This darling Golden Retriever pup is 5 weeks old and is looking for his forever home. His parents are full (papered) Goldens; his dad comes from a breeder of competitive hunting dogs. His older full siblings are family dogs, companion dogs, and hunting dogs. If you're interested in giving this bundle of fun a loving home, message me!

🐩 We have been seeing several "kennel cough" cases lately, as have other clinics.

🐕 If it has been more than 4 or 5 months since your dogs' last Bordetella booster, please consider boostering it.

🐕‍🦺Kennel Cough (canine infectious tracheobronchitis) is a highly infectious respiratory disease. Dogs commonly contract kennel cough at places where large amounts of canines congregate. However, some of our cases are in dogs who have not had contact with other (outside the household) dogs.

UPDATE: Mark was discharged earlier today & is resting at home (after a quick trip to AVSI, of course). He has a list of restrictions over the next 8 weeks, but nothing that wont prevent him from starting back on very light duty as early as next week.

Thank you all for your prayers, good thoughts, well wishes, offers of help & crutches! We are blessed to have such good people in our lives!

Friends, as many of you know, Dr. Mark is having hip surgery this evening, and will be on light duty for a little while following. The clinic will remain open (🌲around holiday scheduling 🌲), so we will still be able to fill prescriptions and vaccinate your pets (sans rabies).

Expectatipn is that Mark will be in the clinic minimally next week & scheduling appointments after New Year's. We will posts scheduling updates as his recovery progresses.

If there is anything we can do for you in the meantime, please dont hesitate calling AVSI at 655-9393.

The ideal candidate has experience with large & small animals, is a self-starter and leader, and is able to work effectively and efficiently under pressure.

Job duties would include, but are not limited to, blood draws & processing, catheters placement, x-rays, surgery prep, anesthesia monitoring/recording, post surgical recovery, treatments, vaccinations, client communication & medical records. Cleaning clinic/stall/barn, sterilizing instruments, filling prescriptions, and tracking medical inventory are also part of this position. Dr. Mark is willing to train the right person.

The halter makes this look like poor photoshop editing. It isnt. This yearling was bit on the nose by a RATTLESNAKE 12 hours prior. Owner had the c**t to Dr Mark immediately, but the c**t could barely breath at that point. Dr. Mark inserted tracheostomy & administered antivenin, then put this c**t under ICU treatment/care for 24 hours. By hour 36, this lucky guy looked like a yearling, again... & is back to eating like a horse.
REMEMBER: Rattlesnake vaccines are available for your horses & dogs. Bites still require Veterinary care, but most cases are significantly less dramatic.
