It is easy to free lunge three horses at once, even in a quarter-acre dry lot, when Dawn is the caboose! You can watch her push the less experienced horses through the circle and she is the first to halt for the woah command. The mare pen is always calm and organized with the Big Lady at the helm.

As the new year is almost here, I am putting out my options list for 2026! Off-site services are offered to the Billings, Acton, Shepherd, Huntley, Worden, and Laurel areas. On-site lessons and training are located in Worden, Montana. A heated indoor arena, a beautiful outdoor arena, and trails are all available for my lesson clients and client horses. Message me with any questions or to get on the schedule, starting January 1st, 2026!

A great weekend with an awesome horse! Dawn competed in her first Working Equitation Derby and took second in the beginners division. Big, draft girls can do hard things, too! Thank you to Yellowstone Working Equitation for putting on a fun day. If you are in the Billings area, make sure to look them up and join the next event.

Dental day! All of the horses had their teeth floated. Sugar is a poster child for floating even your two-year-olds. She had the sharpest teeth of the day, and considerable cheek ulcers. I always advocate for checking c**t mouths before training begins, and the little daggers that were carving holes into the sides of Sugar’s mouth are why!

Prince has been on stall rest for the past three weeks, healing an injured tendon. Unfortunately, his Highness was becoming rather upset with being confined and isolated, so he resorted to pawing at everything possible with his injured leg. Luckily, after three weeks, the size of the pen can increase slightly for a horse on stall rest. So, I moved him into a small pen right next to his favorite lady, Dawn. The change in his demeanor and attitude is profound. I caught this video on the cameras about an hour after moving him last night. I think it’s just what the doctor ordered❤️

I’ve been waiting over a year to figure out what color little Sugar actually is… any final bets? From palomino, to chocolate palomino, to grey, to brown- that dorsal stripe has me thinking buckskin (dun). Can’t wait for her to shed out this spring and start her training!
