Veterinary Receptionist Week is the perfect time to recognize the incredible people who keep our hospital running smoothly. Our front desk staff are so much more than receptionists—they are compassionate listeners, skilled coordinators, and the steady, reassuring presence that clients and patients rely on every day. They juggle busy schedules, handle emotional situations with grace, and create a welcoming environment where both pets and their owners feel cared for from the moment they walk in. Their dedication, empathy, and attention to detail are essential to everything we do, and our entire team is stronger because of their hard work. This week, we celebrate and thank them for the vital role they play in delivering exceptional care. Thank you Gina, Tina, Katherine, Dawn, Karen, Erin C, Erin H, Kristen and Elise for everything you do!

Dr. Chelsea Field joined the MCAH team in March 2026.
Dr Field spent her younger years in Rhode Island, completing her Bachelor’s degree in Pre-Veterinary Sciences from the University of Rhode Island. She then moved to St. Kitts for 3 years to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. She has been practicing in MA since 2019.

Dr. Field is also certified in fear free medicine practices, giving nervous dogs and cats the ability to be comfortable in a hospital setting by reducing fear, anxiety and stress.
She loves working as a general practitioner, with special interests in animal behavior, dermatology, ophthalmology, preventative care, dentistry and surgery. Along with her lead technician Brenton, Dr. Field prefers a collaborative approach to care, communicating with pet parents throughout the exam, work-up and diagnosis process to ensure parents are informed and included.

Outside of work, Chelsea spends her spare time going on hikes with her partner Tom, and their two dogs, Porter and Ederra. She also enjoys skiing, paddleboarding, kayaking and skydiving! When she is not outdoors, she is spending time at home making puzzles, reading and watching hockey while cuddling with her cats (Finn and Rey) and dogs on the couch.

Dr. Ashleigh Colon (pronounced cologne) joined the MCAH team in February 2026. Dr. Colon attended Onondaga Community College where she received an associate’s degree in math and science. She also attended Coastal Carolina University where she received a bachelor’s degree in biology, and finally Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine where she received her DVM accreditation.

After working at a pet store and a zoo, Dr. Colon decided she wanted to be a veterinarian. She originally wanted to explore the equine world, but ultimately fell in love with practicing with small animals. Ashleigh has been practicing since 2019 and has never looked back! Together with her lead technician Amanda, they make every tail wag a little more.

When she’s not working, Dr. Colon enjoys outdoor activities like camping and hiking, and loves to crotchet or sit with a good book. She also has two black lab mixes dogs, Nova and Aurea, and she never misses their daily afternoon walks!
