🐾✨ A Labor of Love: Rosie's Transformation! ✨🐾
When Rosie came in on Saturday, I thought we were getting ready for another everyday deshedding groom. She was this beautiful, super fluffy girl, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on her! 🥰
Little did I know, underneath that gorgeous outer coat was what I can only describe as a spiderweb of compacted undercoat! 😳
And that's something I really wanted to share with you all, because when it comes to double-coated breeds, what you see on the outside doesn't always tell the whole story!
Loose undercoat can become trapped and intertwined beneath the longer guard hairs, creating dense areas of compaction that aren't always obvious until you really get into the coat.
What started as a routine deshedding appointment turned into a much more involved grooming process, requiring nearly seven hours of hands-on work spread across two days. ❤️
Multiple washes, deep conditioning treatments, high-velocity drying, and lots and LOTS of careful brushing, working through her coat one section at a time.
And let me tell you, I cannot begin to describe the amount of patience this groom required, not just from me, but from Rosie as well! 🥹🐾
Once we got that first section completely cleared, I knew we were making progress and that we had a real chance of working through the rest of her coat without shaving.
After several hours on Saturday, we decided the best thing for Rosie was to take a break and finish the process the following day. She had already been thoroughly bathed, conditioned, and dried, so Sunday was all about continuing to carefully work through that remaining undercoat and finishing her trim.
And just LOOK at her now!! 😍❤️
I want to give a HUGE thank-you to Rosie's mom for her kindness, understanding, and trust throughout this entire process. When I explained how much more work her coat needed, she was nothing but patient and supportive. I'm especially grateful that she trusted my recommendation to give Rosie a break and have her return the following day rather than trying to rush through everything in one appointment.
And of course, the biggest shout-out goes to Miss Rosie herself! 🥰 This sweet girl had quite the grooming adventure, and she handled it all so wonderfully!
I wanted to share Rosie's transformation not just because of her beautiful before-and-after pictures, but to give everyone a little glimpse into the grooming world and the work that sometimes goes on behind the scenes.
It's also a great reminder of why regular grooming and deshedding maintenance are so important for our double-coated friends. Even the fluffiest, most beautiful coat can have quite a bit going on underneath!
At Brave Little Groom Shop, it's never just about making a dog look beautiful. It's about taking the time to understand what each individual pet needs and doing our best to make their grooming experience a positive one. ❤️
Where patience comes first, because every pet deserves to feel brave. 🧡🐾
P.S. I'm fairly certain we removed enough undercoat to build Rosie a twin! 🤣🐕
P.P.S. Thank to Rosie's mom for the beautiful flowers!!! 💐🥰
